Credit where credit is due. Labour has refused Johh Tamihere membership renewal. I applaud this action.

Jacinda tells an outright fib here as she attempts to cover for Kiwibuild; the Axis ballots at Hobsonville Pt were introduced under National in 2008 and were to expand to Northcote Pt's HNZ development as well. It is endlessly frustrating to see history being re-written to excuse the policy failings that were all being flagged during the election campaign.

Pointless sniping that doesn't contribute anything. Exactly the kind of thing you often accuse me of.

"Under the last Government, they made no effort to build affordable houses, at all"

The Axis Ballots are still going:

She acknowledge it is difficult. There are houses under construction - less than promised but they are underway. She even mentions that National did nothing before, so at least something is being done.

I still don't see the fib.

National did not do nothing. This isn't screaming through a megaphone on Queen Street, she is the Prime Minister and cannot simply rewrite history to say National did nothing to offer affordable houses because her own policy is predictably not delivering.

I have pointed out the Axis Houses and Hobsonville and the planned ballots at Northcote. That is not "nothing".

If the Prime Minister is allowed to simply speak untruths unchallenged when politically convenient then we might as well dig up Muldoon and put him back in the chair on the 9th floor.

I guess you are. Do you have a point to make or are you just trolling?

Golriz is introducing a member's bill to lower the MMP threshold to 4% for next election.

She has dressed it up as 'foreign donation reform' but DPF suggests no foreign donations over $1,500 are allowed anyway.

Why 4%?
If there are 120 MPs, then why not 0.8333%?
Possibly because 4% would make the Greens secure while excluding some whose agendas differ.
Surely true proportionality is what matters in a democracy?

Well, so long as everyone is playing by the same rules, then it shouldn't matter. I am against lowering the threshold personally, I feel we already have some crazy fringe groups as it is and whilst I suppose it's important that all voices are heard, if a party can't get to 5%, what are the chances they will be able to provide a reasonable contribution. I guess there are arguments for both sides.
