Not that I support his wall, but I'd be interested to know which part of the border he's proposing to wall up and how long it will be.

If he has any hopes of convincing anyone but his usual fan base, he will have to read the speech prepared for him verbatim. If he starts to ad-lib it will devolve into his usual incoherent dribble.
Wonder if he has a time limit and if networks will cut him off if he goes overtime.

"As of January 2009, U.S. Customs and Border Protection reported that it had more than 580 miles (930 km) of barriers in place. The total length of the continental border is 1,989 miles (3,201 km)."

I thought his plan was steel and concrete for all of it. It will be big and it will be beautiful. It will also consume a lot of private land that will have to be bought from landowners. In the twenties of billion to build.

The sensible outcome is technology and staff to beef it up.

Walls can be climbed, drilled through, drilled under, you still need patrols and technology, so better to have more patrols and technology. IMHO

My home is secure, no incursions here (by honest people)

From browsing google maps, it seems there's already a continuous wall/fence from the west coast all the way to this point

Sure, but no walls at all is just an open invitation. If you want to stop illegal immigration, a wall/barrier spanning the entire length of the border is only a good thing. Then combine that with technology + patrols, a hell of a lot better than what they have currently. How to fund it is another question.

No one argues against border protection. The massive numbers he quotes and Pence quotes are wrong, most illegals come on via entry ports, as do drugs. Today it was stated that 1 in 4 drug boats gets caught. 26 to 70 billion, or use technology and patrols, in the case of boats, fund that. There is agreed funding for border security. The wall wont stop the numbers as the numbers are wrong and they enter elsewhere. If burglers continually break into your house doors, will you add thicker windows at a massive cost?

I'm sending him a gift in the mail.

Package looks kinda suspicious but it should get through ok, seeing as how there's nobody on the XRay machines.

Four hundred thousand illegal immigrants were detained at the southern border during fiscal 2018, that's not a trivial number. Once you have end to end walls spanning the entire border, the use of technology to detect illegal immigrants goes up, and the necessity of constant patrols goes down, that will free up some serious funding to put into ports etc.

If burglars constantly break into your house you don't add thicker windows, you put metal bars across them, you reinforce the doors, you cover all bases, not just one. You can't do all that at once though if you don't have the money, but you have to start somewhere.

I'm guessing it wasn't actually live, probably recorded earlier, then just played 'live'.
