SaltyNZ: Friday is the final official election result. This includes a full recount of all the votes already counted on the day. Not sure what recourse candidates have to contest it in the event of a small winning margin - probably not a lot as that is the legal deadline for the GG to announce the new parliament.

Electorate candidates have to apply within three working days of the official results to a District Court Judge and pay a fee for a recount.

I remember Billy TK wanted to request a recount in 2020 as he thought the results were rigged against him, but (from memory) once he realised he would need to pay said fee, he backed down and stopped whining about non-existent election fraud.

Former cabinet minister Peter Dunne has a look at what could be ahead in the first 100 days and how Luxon may have made things hard for himself making big promises:

Also, am I the only person who can't stand this Jordan guy? He looks like such a smug, smarmy git: https://www.newsroom.co.nz/chiding-in-plain-sight

He walked past me on the street once and I could almost feel the arrogance exuding from him.

Never met him in person but yeah the closest he's ever been to having a real job was doing legal work for right wing lobbyists before becoming one himself.

Nearly 2pm. 500,000 votes. That's nearly a third of the electorate nationwide. Anything could happen really although it's unlikely to buck the trend a whole lot.

Totally. Did you see what Golriz Ghahraman said?

He hasn't been through that many elections, we've got to remember, so maybe he's not quite used to this.

Poor guy's going to need an ambulance for those burns.
