When I say there are fascists in the American government some people say "No, you don't know". And then there is this republican senator quoting Mussolini:

Substitute the word "President" for "moron", "imbecile" or "narcissist" and it would be 100x more accurate. The guy isn't a leader of anybody but a group functioning at a lower level than amoebae.

Trump's woeful ignorance is no longer a surprise.

What i found refreshing was the willingness of his senior official to contradict him in public.

The Washington Post - Trump Organization asks House committee to cease investigations, citing an alleged conflict of interest

February 25 at 1:51 PM

A lawyer for the Trump Organization has asked the House Judiciary Committee to cease any investigations related to it, claiming that the panel’s work has been tainted by its hiring of an outside lawyer [Berry H. Berke] whose firm [Kramer Levin] has represented Trump’s company. ...

In a statement, Kramer Levin called the Trump Organization’s claims “baseless” [and stated that] Berke was working for the Judiciary Committee in his personal capacity, and that the firm would not receive any compensation or provide legal support. ...

Former Trump personal lawyer Michael Cohen is scheduled to appear publicly before the House Oversight Committee on Wednesday.

The scope of the hearing will include Trump’s business interests, according to a memo distributed to committee members on Sunday. ...

Trump seems to be objecting to Spike Lee closing his latest film with images of the Charlottesville rally and saying vote for love not hate in 2020. Weird. Unless...

Reports have been emerging of a lady suing Trump for stealing a kiss at a campaign rally. Sexual assault should not be trivialised, especially when someone like Trump is involved, but I have doubts about this particular case and I am afraid it may just serve as an unwanted distraction. Anyway, judge for yourself.

The Washington Post - House prepares to vote on overturning Trump’s emergency declaration

February 25 at 8:23 PM

Congress braced Monday for an unprecedented effort to overturn a presidential emergency declaration, as Republicans worked to limit defections on the eve of a critical House vote while Democrats framed the issue as a constitutional showdown.

Partisans on both sides unleashed sharp new rhetoric ahead of Tuesday’s vote on a Democratic-authored resolution that would nullify President Trump’s declaration of a national emergency at the U.S.-Mexico border.

Congress has never before sought to cancel a national emergency declared by the president since passage of the National Emergencies Act in 1976.

The resolution is expected to pass the House easily with unified Democratic support.

But GOP leaders were urging their members to oppose it, aiming to keep the final tally low enough to demonstrate that Congress would be unable to overturn the veto that Trump has threatened. ...

I don't see any reason for your opinion. Just because she did not get the embassy job she wanted does not make it any less believable.

I hate to say it, but Trump is actually correct.

I guess being literally sued thousand of times taught him something.

A memorandum of understanding is a good faith understanding, and may not contain legally enforceable promises.

I'd say you're a fool if you take a good faith understanding with Trump to be worth anything.

A signed contract with Trump seem to be in one direction only: binding only as long as it serves Trump.

The Washington Post - North Carolina Republican in congressional race tainted by ballot fraud says he will not run in new election

February 26 at 3:10 PM

Mark Harris, the Republican nominee in a North Carolina congressional race tainted by ballot fraud, announced Tuesday that he will not run in the new election for the seat.

Harris said in a statement that he has decided not to seek the 9th District seat because of health problems. ...

Harris now states that he has been recovering from a serious illness that led to sepsis and two strokes, and he claims to have "memory problems" (when testifying) - so why was he running for Congress?
