I don't think the efficacy of the vaccine should be excluded. Granted, we "didn't know" how effective it may or may not be and relied on study results for the basis of our decision, but shouldn't that be a lesson for any future pandemics? That we had significant rights withheld on the basis of having a vaccine or not, its effectiveness has to be a part of the report.

Auckland moreso than others, given that we seemed to reach a point where other areas dragging the chain on vaccination meant Auckland stayed locked down for longer. It would be nice to have that risk quantified for certain, I'm not sure you could really justify that again based on our experience.

Actually testing did show it had high prevention rates as well as reduced symptom of those that still caught covid.

People stupidly think that vaccine will prevent in 100% of cases, not vaccine ever will do that, never has, never will.

As yourself, do you wear a seat belt ?

If your do why ?

It dos not mean if you do not wear one you will be involved in a crash

It does not mean if you do not wear one you will be killed or maimed in a crash

It does not mean if you do wear one you will not be in a crash

It does not mean that if you wear one you will come out uninjured/alive 100% of the time either

Given the efficacy of seatbelts is about 60% (ie lower than the vaccine) why do people wear seat belts ?

People STILL die from the "safe" vaccines. Again, no one has ever said it could not happen.

Yes, the vaccine did go through all  the testing stages.

Its is not the pharmacy company that is stopping the release of the Research data, that was the CDC who said they lacked the man power

There are no micro chips

50% of people who got the vaccine did not die (death rates are LOWER in the vaccinated)

It is NOT experimental, mRNA was discovered in the 1960's , How they could be delivered in the 1970's. The vaccines have been worked on for over 30 years.

This is the new technology, they are actually safer.

Oof, that's a huge thing to have excluded. The efficacy of vaccines should be excluded, but as you say, the potential exists that self-interest could twist the entire response into the parts that were excluded. Having said that, 2024 is such a long way away, there is a reasonable chance Labour won't be in power and anything that reflects badly on them will be shrug of the shoulders.

I also read as its looking at the "health" response they won't be looking at any measures the RBNZ or other monetary institutions took either

The health response and the RBNZ are two seperate issues.

It may well be that given the review of the health response they strengthen the laws to enable to government to impose lockdowns and mass vaccination. They may also

decide that if you choose not to be vaccinated you can be placed at the bottom of the queue with those people who did the right thing getting preference, and/or that the person

can be expected to pay for treatment, or they take out 3rd party medical insurance beforehand.

Our health system is such that it can no longer afford to cover the wilfully stupid unless we are willing to reduce services for everyone.

Willie Jackson has apologised after being 'spoken to' by PM Jacinda Arden.

Arden confirms she still has confidence in her minister.

One wonders what one might need to do to cause JA to lose confidence in you?

Ask Iain Lees-Galloway or Meka Whaitiri.

So if you physically confront/assault someone, or have sex with a co-worker, but not if you are incompetent? Not if you accuse someone of rape apparently and cost the taxpayer hundreds of thousands of dollars. For that you get a cushy job in Ireland :)

You asked a question and I answered it. I did so without emoticons, without rants, without sarcasm. All of that came from you.

Where is he wrong? This has hands down been one of the worst weeks for this government that I can remember, and not one demotion, sacking or resignation has been forthcoming.

On the back of the RBNZ reappointment before their own internal review went public, it doesn't really seem like the government values performance in key roles, given what they are prepared to accept in lieu of it.

Oh good Lord:

https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/politics/nats-up-in-arms-after-labour-electorates-get-early-heads-up-on-bids-for-350m-fund/D4D3K5JELZDU3GJ4T7CTTBIN7Q/

The documents show Transport Minister Michael Wood wrote to Labour MPs on June 27, apparently letting them know about the scheme and encouraging them to put forward bids for funding - the documents did not include this letter.

Throughout June and July several MPs wrote back to Wood with funding proposals.

It was only on August 3, more than a month after Wood had notified MPs about the funding, that Waka Kotahi, NZ-Transport Agency actually opened itself up to expressions of interest from councils, who were meant to bid for the funding.

You really shouldn't have to tell people why this is a bad idea. I've managed to fairly well tune out anything Simeon Brown says over the years but in this case he's right. There's no good reason that should override the governance and perception issues this approach raises that justifies using it.

Wood is supposedly a future Labour leader in the waiting but given his handling of the Light Rail shemozzle and now this, I'm starting to wonder whether that reputation might be unwarranted.

Imagine the screams and cries if National had done this? It reminds me of when Labour made a huge song and dance about times when National MP's made paid appearances at events, and within weeks of being elected did the identical thing (Charging big money on 1:1 with particular MP's). Funnily enough, the left said nothing about it.  There are a shocking number of double standards.

Health system failure

Mental health failure

Housing failure

Education failure

Tertiary education failure

Courts systems failure

In fact all public services has been so badly mismanaged you would think that National was in charge doing their worst.
