I detest Trump but regardless of politics there is clearly something wrong with his brain. The 'orange' confusion in particular is a striking indicator of dementia and there are plenty of other examples of him misspeaking in this way. The sooner he is put in an institution, the better.

The New York Times - How a Trump Tax Break to Help Poor Communities Became a Windfall for the Rich
Aug. 31, 2019
NEW ORLEANS - President Trump has portrayed America’s cities as wastelands, ravaged by crime and homelessness, infested by rats.
But the Trump administration’s signature plan to lift them - a multibillion-dollar tax break that is supposed to help low-income areas - has fueled a wave of developments financed by and built for the wealthiest Americans.
Among the early beneficiaries of the tax incentive are billionaire financiers like Leon Cooperman and business magnates like Sidney Kohl - and Mr. Trump’s family members and advisers.
Former Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey; Richard LeFrak, a New York real estate titan who is close to the president; Anthony Scaramucci, a former White House aide; and the family of Jared Kushner, Mr. Trump’s son-in-law and senior adviser, all are looking to profit from what is shaping up to be a once-in-a-generation bonanza for elite investors. ...
“Opportunity zones, hottest thing going, providing massive new incentives for investment and job creation in distressed communities,” Mr. Trump declared at a recent rally in Cincinnati.
Instead, billions of untaxed investment profits are beginning to pour into high-end apartment buildings and hotels, storage facilities that employ only a handful of workers, and student housing in bustling college towns ...

The Washington Post - Trump has a plan! His plan is for nothing to go wrong.
August 31, 2019
First, do not worry about the economy. There is nothing to worry about. Who’s worried?
If you were to worry, that would make the economy second-guess itself and grow agitated.
Don’t worry about the economy. It’s fine.
Second, if there are any problems with the economy (there aren’t, but if there were), they would have nothing to do with the president.
The last thing that would possibly impact the economy are his trade policies.
It is “badly run and weak companies,” as he wisely clarified on Twitter.
Third, if there were to be any kind of downturn ... there is a plan.
The plan is for it to be, as Mick Mulvaney told a gathering of donors last week, “moderate and short.”
This plan is without flaw, and, indeed, is the approach the administration is taking to all forms of crisis.
That is, I am pleased to report, why there are currently no crises whatsoever. ...

Trump : I’ve seen some Category Fours, you don’t even see them that much,” he said. “But a Category Five is something that, I don’t know that I’ve ever even heard the term, other than I know it’s there. That’s the ultimate and that’s what we have, unfortunately.

If the stable genius was to enter a trivia quiz, what age group should he compete against?
Looks like Mar-a-Lago might not get a direct hit. Current forecasts have it swooping up the coast, closest it gets to Florida mainland is about where Cape Kennedy is, and it keeps going - at the moment it doesn't look like it hits the coast in Georgia or the Carolinas, but still as a huge storm makes a beeline for NJ. We'll see.
There's probably another one coming too - forming off the coast of Africa now.
Stupidity, short term memory loss, or dementia?
All of the above? 😕

Trump’s Category 5 blind spot could hinder response efforts and is in keeping with his overarching dismissal of scientific findings.

Hurricane Dorian is a storm for the record books ...
Yet President Trump seemed baffled by how a hurricane could reach Category 5 intensity, the highest category on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale, which has been widely used since 1974. ...
Although it might seem like a harmless curiosity or blind spot, Trump’s self-professed ignorance of Category 5 monsters could slow the government’s response to such disasters ...
Climate studies show a trend toward more Category 4 and 5 storms in the future, along with more frequent instances of storms that rapidly intensify, which can complicate evacuation and storm preparation.
However, it’s unlikely that Trump will accept such findings, given his rejection of climate science in general.

The New York Times - North Korea Missile Tests, ‘Very Standard’ to Trump, Show Signs of Advancing Arsenal
Sept. 2, 2019
As North Korea fired off a series of missiles in recent months - at least 18 since May - President Trump has repeatedly dismissed their importance as short-range and “very standard” tests.
And although he has conceded “there may be a United Nations violation,” the president says any concerns are overblown.
Kim Jong-un, North Korea’s leader, Mr. Trump explained recently, just “likes testing missiles.”
Now, American intelligence officials and outside experts have come to a far different conclusion: that the launchings downplayed by Mr. Trump, including two late last month, have allowed Mr. Kim to test missiles with greater range and maneuverability that could overwhelm American defenses in the region. ...
