We can say what we like about Trump, but the fact remains that he was elected President of the USA and continues to hold that title in spite of a clear and demonstrable unfitness for the position.

Regardless of any real or imagined Russian influence, Americans put him in the Oval Office, and it's Americans who are responsible for keeping him there.

Trump is not the only one who's unfit for his job - the 'Average American Voter' has failed to uphold the responsibility bestowed upon him and her, by their much-vaunted Constitution, to elect a proper leader.

Unfortunately, it's not only the Average American Voter, but the whole world, that will suffer because of their stupidity and continuing inaction.

Trump crowned? No faux King way!

There is not a more oleaginous sycophant in President Trump’s inner circle than Vice President Pence.

Ironically, the one person Trump cannot fire is also the one most prone to elaborate expressions of loyalty that would put North Korean leader Kim Jong Un’s courtiers to shame.

Pence will defend any remark, make any argument and sacrifice any principle (e.g., support for federal law enforcement, get tough with dictators, free trade) to stay in Trump’s good graces.

Then it rose to a whole other level when he arranged to stay at his boss’s resort - hours from his arranged meetings in Ireland.

This was not only a blatant example of Trump’s ability to induce members of his administration, members of his party, and heads of state to stuff money into his pockets, but it put Pence in the position of participating into the great grifting enterprise.

When caught and called out for this, the vice president argued that this was the only facility that could accommodate his large party ...

Then, his chief of staff, Marc Short, let on that Trump “suggested” Pence stay there. Whoops!

The first rule of sycophancy is never reveal that the object of your sycophancy invited your tribute - even when it is obvious in the case of Trump that he lives to induce (or invent!) praise from others. ...

Putin says he offered Trump the chance to buy Russian hypersonic weapons

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday that he offered US President Donald Trump the chance to buy Russian hypersonic missiles, supposedly to stop a US-Russia arms race.

“If you want we can sell you some, and this way we will balance everything out,” Putin said he told Trump, according to Russian state media.

Putin said Trump refused, telling the Russian leader that the US was building its own weapons.

True or not, Putin’s story about his talk with Trump appears designed to further the Russian narrative that Moscow is the reasonable party while Washington is igniting a dangerous arms race.

In other news it looks like Trump has confused refugees from the Bahamas with the boy in that old Queen song who killed a man by putting a gun against his head, pulling the trigger and now he's dead.

The New York Times - Trump fires Bolton as national security adviser

BREAKING

President Trump announced Tuesday that he had fired his national security adviser, John Bolton, saying in tweets that he “disagreed strongly with many of his suggestions.”

“I informed John Bolton last night that his services are no longer needed at the White House,” Trump said.

“I asked John for his resignation, which was given to me this morning. I thank John very much for his service.”

Trump said he would name a replacement next week.

... and another one bites the dust. 🤨

EDIT

(Bolton spent much of the last week waging a last-minute battle to prevent Trump from signing off on a peace agreement with the Taliban.)

Look what has happened already. The Republicans have sold their souls. Trump supporters bend themselves into pretzels to justify every fascist twerk he makes. Elected representatives have done and said things I would not have thought possible. Trump and his cohorts intend to stage a coup in all but name and he plans to be dictator for life. He has made that abundantly clear. I'm not sure what can be done to stop him now. Impeachment is a useless gesture if a Senate majority is determined to do his bidding. The only thing I can see as a last hope is civil war, and then the question becomes very much what the military will do. I honestly believe this has already gone past a Constitutional crisis. I hope to god I am wrong.
