kingdragonfly: With all of Putin's nuclear sabre rattling,
As usual, Perun has a really good in-depth analysis of this issue:
kingdragonfly: Two Russian news stories translated from Russian to English, by Google. President Vladimir Putin made the Kommersant publicist, Vladimir Yakovlev, his Envoy to the Southern Federal District.
The thing I like about the story, is that the Russians go all out with their stories. They're very imaginative.
Most of the posters in this thread are just like chimpanzees on MDMA, full of feelings of bonhomie, joy, and optimism. Fred99 8/4/21
kingdragonfly: Summary: bad quality
Naah, it suddenly remembered it had left the bathroom window open and turned back to sort it out, forgetting that it had a proximity fused fitted.
I'm not exactly afraid of the Russians, but perhaps it would be wiser if our stupid Western tabloid press would just shut up and stop spouting stupidly provocative stories - it's already hard to bear without war. Even if Russia likes to manipulate the facts, we don't have to emphasise this in a lurid manner. You don't have to make it easy for Putin, too, when he uses this for his propaganda purposes and puts it in front of his own people to know that they are quickly on his side. Some youtube posts add to this - everyone embarrasses themselves as best they can.
Real sovereignty is shown when one does not ridicule the opponent for not appearing to be what he is trying to pretend to be. That also takes the wind out of the sails. Joe Biden does this very well in my eyes, only our tabloid press looks like a drunken bunch of bullies who can't think of anything else for their money (who is surprised?). They should leave psychological warfare to the professionals and only print it for them, not "think" for themselves. There is absolutely nothing wrong with fact-based reporting by the serious press.
We don't need to find out if the Russian bear will actually bite. It is quite enough that it will fare very badly if it does.

Hawling ass again just like he did on Jan. 6th.
The world order that has been in place for decades has been shaken, old certainties have been broken, new global power relations are emerging. Three major players (I deliberately avoid the word friend, enemy or adversary) are coming up against a European Union in crisis:
Russia, with a Putin who oscillates between cooperation and a willingness to engage in conflict;
China, whose economic rise has given it new self-confidence; and
the unpleasant experience the USA has had with the disruptive "America first" policy of a (fortunately former) Donald Trump.
Where is Europe heading now? Can Europe's own values be communicated? What role does it play in the newly forming world order? It seems that we will inevitably have to address this issue without losing sight of our friends (no one needs enemies).

"Random unknown Youtuber claims Ukrainians are killing babies and defenceless kittens and puppies".
Sheesh.
Edited to add: Although the linked channel is some random Youtuber, the footage they're using was put out by the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR).
Yeh I withdrew the post when I saw this was contested propaganda given Russian mo.

Amnesty international is coming across as an organisation void of conscience and integrity. They would rather see Ukraine troops head to open fields for slaughter, and Bucha X1000 occur. I suspect they are going to see a lot of donations disappear with people turned off by their stance.
Ukrainian forces have put civilians in harm’s way by establishing bases and operating weapons systems in populated residential areas.
