Tesla is well and truly cooked (aka NZers doing our bit) …

Electric vehicle (EV) maker Tesla has reported a catastrophic slump in New Zealand automotive sales revenue, which plummeted 69 per cent to $107.2 million in 2024 from $342 million in 2023.

Total NZ revenue collapsed to $149.5 million from $373.6 million, with net profit nosediving 84 per cent to just $457,120 from $2.78 million the previous year.

Tesla is well and truly cooked (our mates across the ditch doing their bit!) …

Chinese electric vehicle brand BYD is continuing to smash Tesla in Australia, with sales of Elon Musk’s car company down 76 per cent compared to this time last year.

On the other hand Tesla's overall income in Australia rose by 30% (to $5.1 billion) and profit jumped from $39 to $65 million

  • This was on the back of battery sales to both home owners and Grid providers,

Most likely they associate Elon Musk with EV, not home energy...

I'm annoyed that Tesla stood up to the car so well. I wanted it to be as flat as a pancake but it still looks like a car, more or less.

After all, that was only a ‘light’ Sherman tank. It would look different with an Abrams or Leopard II that was twice as heavy.

Tesla is well and truly cooked …

In France, Tesla reportedly delivered only 863 vehicles in April. That’s down 59% year-over-year and down 24% from the first month of Q1 2025.

In Denmark, the automaker has delivered only 180 vehicles in April. That’s down a staggering 67% compared to April 2024 and 59% from January 2025, when Tesla did not yet have the new Model Y.

In Portugal, Tesla delivered only 239 vehicles in April based on registration data – down 47% year-over-year and down 39% from the first month of Q1 2025.

More data from European countries is expected to be released in the coming days, with the full dataset to be made available later this month.

And these are purely buyer decisions, not politically driven sanctions. 😁

https://futurism.com/crisis-tesla-sales-model-y-refresh

In an attempt to compete, Tesla is matching other carmakers' offerings with zero percent financing, suggesting that cars' rarity has become a thing of the past as the competition is starting to grow substantially for the Elon Musk-led firm.

"Why would you discount and have all these incentives and offers literally out of the gate?" EV data firm Paren chief analyst Loren McDonald told Reuters. "That just doesn't make sense when your margins are already at multiyear lows. That suggests very strongly that there is a demand problem."

Poor Elon. Poor, poor Elon 😀

I haven't really been following how Telsa is doing. But how much of the slump in sales is due to a dislike of Musk's politics as opposed to the natural consequence of far more competition in the EV space?

If I was in the market for an EV, I'd just be going for the best all-round purchase. I couldn't care less about the political views of the company's owner.

If you don't care at all about the owner, why are you posting in this thread? 😁
