Another year, another round of price increases. $5/month on all plans from 1st Sep. Guess they're using the excuse of "big fibre boost" to charge more.

$105/month for a plan one above basic is becoming hard to justify. Wasn't long ago you could count on prices being stable for at least 2 years.

I'm looking to move to Quic, since they cater to advanced users (the reason why I was with Voyager), offer self-service for basic tasks and inform users when there are planned outages. Voyager on the other hand has remained largely stagnant, aside from introducing IPoE. Constant price rises (including introducing Credit Card surcharges), price rices ahead of wholesale price increases and pushing users towards contracted periods instead of open terms have all been steps in the wrong direction IMO.

Voyager has been a sound performer, but unless we see a significant shift in direction, it's a ride that's quickly coming to an end.

I agree this is likely the final nudge to push me to Quic. Their network today appears mature that I am willing to make the leap.

There's a free setup code in my signature if you're interested, will save you $29!

If you need me to test speed/latency to any endpoints just let me know.

My fixed term ends early February.  No sense in paying the early termination fee to move to Quic....will see it out.

It is ridiculous because it is more than inflation

Before cancelling Voyager nearly a month ago I asked them if they are planning to launch a no-frills service like Vetta does with Quic.  The answer, in the usual roundabout marketing-speak (we are always considering new ways to serve our customers etc. etc.) was No.  I have old posts detailing my past with a failed move to Quic but because I have a stable working router this time and Quic has matured considerably since then, I am confident to move to Quic again.

Voyager offers a good service with an excellent, NZ-based help-desk - but I now consider Quic as a viable and better option.

There is also some easter eggs on their website with additional promo codes if anyone wants to go hunting 😊

But for those who qualify, there is also Local Linkup done by Quic's parent company: https://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=49&topicid=320300

These companies need to be careful as it may push even more people to Starlink.

That can be had for $79 a month in most locations and performance is more than enough for most.

I'm pretty happy with Skinny 500/100 for $75 (with mobile discount) - and that's after the recent increase that they all seem to be doing.

I've seen this sort of comment on a few of these price increase threads. Just going to point out that it's also affecting VDSL Voyager connections too. Costs are increasing for everything (and I think the LFCs have a pretty standard CPI/inflation clause in the regulated offerings), so it's not a surprise the ISPs are generally deciding they can't eat the increases.

Timing does seem suspicious with the fibre speed changes, but from what I can recall the timing of the last few years of increases from ISPs have been consistently around this period.

If the price is going up in your fixed term, then tell them they are breaking it and go.

When Slingshot increased the price of my fixed contract this month, I saw it as a good way to break my contract with them and save money by moving to Sky, without having to pay the break fees. I just hope that Sky don't muck up my connection switch like the last time I moved ISP and was without internet for a day.

Slingshot to Sky you are not really moving ISP, just billing.

That is what I thought when moving from Skinny to Slingshot. But I was offline for a day and the ONT showed no connection until it got fixed. Making sure now that the day I switch isn't a day I need to be online.
