Today we changed phone system to VoIP.
All seems to work OK.
Modem is a NetComm N300 NF10WV, so the phones are plugged into the port on the back.

I removed the splitter, presuming that it was no longer needed.

I did a speed test before and after.
Before ~35Mb/s
After 21MB/s

Is there any reason why the speed is now lower?

Doesn't it take a while for xDSL to get to its optimal speed?

By unplugging the connection to disconnect the filter you've probably set it back to square one, I think it should gradually get better over time.

Are there any other phones or other outlets on the circuit??

There is nothing now on the incoming line except the Netcomm.

How long does it take for the line to be retrained?

the splitter is a filter, there could be noise on the line that's now being picked up by the modem, and it does take a little for the VDSL to retrain if the line chnages.

Any other line stubs? How did you re-terminate after removing the filter?

And do you mean a plug in filter, or fully wired in filter?

No line stubs.

The filter is a Dynalink ADSL microfilter MF50NZ PTC280/03/001 with an ADSL and PHONE output and a LINE input with a BT-style phone plug.
What I did was
1 Unplug all phones from the PHONE output
2 Plug one phone into the phone socket on the back of the router
3 Speed test 'before'
4 Unplug filter from phone wall socket
5 Unplug ADSL into the modem from the filter ADSL socket
6 Plug modem ADSL line into the wall socket with a cable with RJ11 and BT-style phone plug
7 Speed test 'after'

Not sure what you mean about termination
