Hi guys,

Desperately trying to set up my vdsl connection with Voyager (waiting for ufb) using hg659.

It's Vodafone router I got from trademe 3.5 yrs ago and was used with bigbipe ufb with no issues.

Today, my vdsl connection was completed but I'm not able to connect to internet. There's sync stats on routers, that dsl is up and running.

I contacted voyager if something is wrong at there end, cs was mega supportive, and done all trouble shooting with me over phone.

He came to conclusion that's Vodafone firmware is playing balls and does not allow to select dsl type to auto while setting up settings.

So I thought I'd try new Vodafone firmware downloaded from Vodafone and routers gives me error for wrong firmware :(

I remembered that bigbipe released there's update too, so tried that and nothing. The same error.

So I wonder if anyone successfully updated their Vodafone hg659 before and what firmware they used.

Wouldn't it make sense just to configure WAN interface correctly rather than use auto. Only difference (excluding use of copper interface) between BP UFB and Voyager VDSL2 is the vlan tag.

Yeah tried everything.

Seems like Vodafone firmware preventing modem to establish connection. Voyager requires an adsl mode set to auto or vdsl2, but there's no such field available at settings screen.

I got sync, they can see my sync, but modem can not establish internet connection.

So must next best - try different firmware,which fails :(

It won't be a firmware problem though. How could it sync if it was. All VDSL2 connections are the same. If it works on one ISP it works on another.

Make sure you are configuring WAN for the correct Link Interface (ADSL / VDSL / Ethernet).

Do you see "Access type: VDSL" as below.

Yes, modem shows access type vdsl. I deleted all other and recreated vdsl. No luck.

Thank you. But upgrade failed again :(

I also managed to set up my hg630 router.

Used wizard, as I cant login as admin and set up connection manually (maybe someone from bigpipe could remember admin user/password for that router, factory reset did not help). Anyway, same store with hg630. Dsl sync is up, but can't connect to internet. I can see all vdsl stats, connection just showing connecting.

Does your product type and hardware version match the below? I'm wondering if you have an HG659 or an HG659B below is an HG659.
