Hi, thinking to move from Vodafone to Voyager and have a few questions:

- does Voyager support static IP address, I need it for my domain names, how much?

- I have my router ASUS GT-AC5300, will it work?

- I don't have a fibre yet, will Voyager install it fro free? The fibre is on my street/address, should be no problem with that.

- using a lot of OpenVPN for work, no problem with Voyager, solid as?

Thanks

1 - Yes, I think you can buy a static IP.

2 - It should do, provided it can make a PPPoE connection overs it’s WAN interface (which it should be able to, but I have no personal experience).

3 - Yes, if fibre is available, Chorus (or the applicable provider in your area) will do the install for free when you order through Voyager.

4 - They’ve been rock solid for the few months I’ve been with them.

A static ip is a once-off fee of $15 I think.

If it supports pppoe and vlan tagging then it will work.

There are some requirements for free fibre installs but most likely it will be free.

Openvpn works great.

As an added bonus check out Wireguard, it's a newer vpn with speeds much greater than openvpn.

Plus Voyager don't have contracts either, so no commitment required. I found them very good when I used them a few years ago.

1) $15 once-off cost. Also provide a static /56 IPv6 subnet if you ask.
2) Horrible router, won't do full Gigabit well but yes it'll work.
3) Just request UFB and once installed disconnect your previous provider.
4) VPN's all work fine.

some of the routers, but is any router if you have 20+/30+/40+ devices in your network (not talking about commercial/business routers, just home ones) won't do full gigabit? I would say any home router won't do full gigabit with the 40+ devices load

Most ISP provided routers handle that totally fine - I've had the Fritz!Box (given out by 2degrees) cope without stress with 90 devices on the network.

I personally use a Mikrotik RB4011 with ~60 devices and that also routes Gigabit fine. Note this is a far cheaper router than your Asus jobbie :)

My problem is not the speed, wifi cover, my router is covering, not sure about other ones ;)

they have contracts now, a 12 month contract is $10 a month cheaper than no contract

If you want router, get a router, if you want wifi, get an accesspoint. All in ones are a disappointment all round.

+1 for RB4011 and large number of users and still twiddling it's thumbs while routing GigE.
