Like "Champagne", or "Chianti" and so on... Scotch Whisky Association one of the first to apply for geographical indication in New Zealand.

Scotch Whisky is one of the first applications to be listed on New Zealand's register of geographical indications (GIs) - a sign used on wines and spirits from a specific area which have a quality, reputation or other characteristic linked to that location.

Scotland's national drink was one of the first GI applications to appear on the New Zealand Intellectual Property Office site when the regime went live in July. Once accepted, 'Scotch Whisky' will have protection as a registered GI in New Zealand from the genesis of the country's registration regime. New Zealand's GI scheme is designed to give greater legal protection to domestic and international wines and spirits and protect consumers against fakes.

It should be a time of celebration, I say.

The Japanese make some scotch style whiskeys that are up there with the best of the scotches , but even though they are made like scotch, look like scotch, smell like scotch and taste like scotch I've never seen one called scotch. They just call it whisky (without the e).

If you get smaller Brussels sprouts and sauté in butter, with bacon and pine-nuts; then dress with a little cream they actually taste OK.

You are mistaking it with Bourbon.

And that would be ginerale with a little bit of citrus and ice.
I do the same mix for rum. Currently on the Stolen Golds.
