nixjr: I thought it might have just been me but I guess not. I have no internet currently. Checking from my phone and the Quick status page is down for me too.

One of the datacenters they use has lost power

Hi all!

This has not been a fun night! As @ctv has said, one of our key core datacentres has broken their 15 year power uptime and had a full facility power outage. Unfortunately this happened with power bouncing up and down, which makes things worse/harder to resolve than just going down and staying down.

Connections should be getting restored now, and if not should be up in the next 5-10 minutes.

Apologies for the inconvenience.

I did wonder what caused that outage. Wow, 15 years of power uptime is impressive, I guess back to 1 day now.

I didn't notice a thing! which is odd as the Alarms should have picked it up?

@SarahRykers

I had a fibre fault. 2degrees had me on hold for 58 mins before finally telling me I was 10th in the queue.. complete bullsh*t... At least tell me where I am in the queue before the 1hr mark.. I ended up hanging up and 'going sideways' to those I know, and had a fault recorded in about 6 mins. ONT was flashing a red LOS (loss of signal). Fault was a physical break in the fibre about 600m away (cabinet down the road)

Tonight I have signed up with Quic.. $20 cheaper a month.. $49 one off static IP address. Time will tell if it is a win.. but what is the point in having 'support' if you expect everyone to die of old age before the phone gets answered.. Grrr.

I look forward to the change to Quic..

Sure will @hsvhel 😊 so long as you have your credit card stored in your account, it'll automatically get charged so you don't have to remember! (don't worry, we'll email you both when an invoice is raised, and when card is charged, so you're in the loop)

Hey all! 👋

Just a heads up that we've decreased pricing (yep, decreased - don't hear that too often!) on our lowest plan, "Walker" (50/10).

This plan was previously $59/month, and is now $56/month! What a steal.

All existing customers on this plan have also been updated to the new price.

Enjoy! 😎

Very cool! I've had my mum on Skinny 4G but since she moved it's not doing very well.

If it's not sensitive information, I'd be curious to know the ratio of customers across each of the available plans.  My initial assumption is that since your target demographic are more tech literate that probably also skews the numbers more heavily towards the higher speed plans, when compared to other providers.

Hey nixjr - great question!

Here's the breakdown:

Walker (50/10) = ~16.7%
Runner (300/100) = ~29.6%
Sprinter (900/400) = ~51.9%
Rocket (Hyperfibre) = ~1.9%

This is awesome!

It may be about time I move a few connections over that I look after (Family don't do well with Tech ha)

Very tempted to move to Hyperfibre for myself. I saw on another thread that the current ONT isn't wall mountable? Do you know if that's true?

Would love to have you on board, @Johnk!

Re Hyperfibre ONT, that is correct - it's a beast of a unit, and unfortunately isn't wall mountable. More info on Chorus' Hyperfibre/model 110 ONT here: https://www.chorus.co.nz/q/hyperfibre-ont

Do you know when they might start installing the new hyperfibre ONTs?
Our install is scheduled for the 29th March at this stage.
Would be good to get one of the wall mountable ones!

Opinions are my own and not the views of my employer.
