Yeah those two are real price leaders...

Their website is on the same IP as vetta.nz so I'd say it's a sub brand of Vetta. I wonder how the business case stacks up - maybe they had to build most of this stuff anyway to e.g. provide broadband for a power company to sell.

Hi everyone! 👋

@ssamjh, thanks for starting this thread, and thanks everyone for the questions!

We're still pretty "fresh" to the market, but as @Wakrak has pointed out, we are a brand within Vetta Online which has a wealth of experience in telco.

The idea of Quic Broadband is to be an ISP for the more tech-savvy, hopefully this comes through in our messaging. With this in mind, we offer you visibility into your ONT information and to perform both live and historical diagnostics/diagnosis (the data that usually only ISP service desks can see). We don't supply any routers, and require customers to configure their own routers. By keeping things as self-service as we can, giving you all the information we can, and having customers setup their own routers, we can supply UFB nice and simple, without contracts, at a low price point.

As @ssamjh has already (correctly) pointed out our upstream transit/peering/uplinks, but of course this is all once data is at one of our core PoPs in either Auckland or Christchurch. For transport between our PoPs, and around the country, we use a mix of Chorus CRT (Chorus Regional Transport), Spark OTN and Vodafone DWDM, depending on the circumstance and how the diversity looks from a fibre route perspective between these providers. We do not make use of any Vocus network services for transport, backhaul, or transit.

I'll do my best to keep an eye on this thread and answer questions where I can.

+1 for DHCP. The performance loss with PPPoE is a bummer.

Hey @CYaBro, unfortunately not, this isn't an action exposed with the API's we're using with LFCs yet. If/when this is exposed as an API we can use, we'd definitely look to add this.

Hey @deadlyllama!

Static IPv6: Not currently, but on the roadmap - what I can say on this is once released, the current Static IPv4 costs (either monthly or one-off) would then include the static IPv6 prefix too, rather than another cost.
Reverse DNS: This was brought up by someone else to us a few days ago too, and is something we're keen on offering. If a customer was to want custom rDNS/PTR, we can set this manually now (just message us). That being said, of course everything we do we're trying to automate as much as possible, and have added this as a feature request for our Infrastructure to investigate.
DHCP instead of PPPoE: Not currently sorry. We're aware of the desire for this, but currently our backend systems need to see the circuit terminate with PPPoE. However, we do support RFC4638, allowing customers to bring up their PPPoE client/dialer at 1500 MTU to prevent the usual packet fragmentation by having PPPoE at the default 1492.

I am jumping ship from MyRepublic (finally). Services are due to change over on the 5th (Monday) have gone for the Sprinter plan. Bought the static IP too. Will report back, so far so good with the sign up process though.

I switched from Voyager last week and it's been smooth sailing so far. Was notified that I would be switched at 9am the next day. Internet went down at 8:55, changed my WAN from vlan 10 to untagged, changed my pppoe credentials and it all connected up.

The only issue is I'm not getting any ipv6 info via dhcp6.

Running pfsense, same config I had with Voyager and I'm not seeing anything in the dhcp logs at all.
