thank you Michael , this was unexpected, I didn’t know what to expect about my issue, I thought I would be on my own of having to go through my logs and trying to find the source of my issue, the people on this forum are absolutely wonderful, and is helping me grow as an It engineer at the same time

Thanks @hsvhel, I’ve been subscribed for a long time but I don’t post comments often and this thread was interesting because I was shopping to change providers from spark which I felt it was a raw deal especially with the pricing going up as well as the service being kinda cruddy, but I knew going with @quic , I knew they were a small provider with no technical support but that what I wanted since I wanted to have something simple that I can support myself , but my only issue was my IPv6 outside of that I will probably have to have my reverse dns when I get a chance to talk to email @quic about it but it will be ok , also if this team wasn’t great on the forums I probably would of been with someone else but I didn’t want cg-nat either because of my vpn etc

Probably. Unless the ISP has simple known problems, there is usually some form of fault finding to do. Up until now I have assumed there was a configuration issue (and I would continue to take this position until there was evidence to support there being a problem).

If we wind back one step, the PPP session should have negotiated IPv6 (via IPv6CP). Did that happen? If it did happen, then the next step is DHCPv6 using link local addresses (where the host part of those IPv6 link local addresses is mentioned in the IPv6CP part of the ppp.log). This is from my last ppp.log. The lines that are relavant from this log have 'IPV6CP' as a prefix.

While we thought it was an outlier, I've just updated your IPv6 subnet @magesnz. Give that a try now.
You'll see both your old and new subnet in the portal currently (but only the new will be pushed down to you) until automation takes the old one away when it does a cleanup.

While we thought it was an outlier, I've just updated your IPv6 subnet @magesnz. Give that a try now.

when I switched from spark, they didn’t cancel my service, I just had to switch port on my ont to port 2, and they activated my service inside 12h since I’m not on chorus but on ultra fast fibre since I’m in Waikato, it took this long and they changed to port no2 because spark was already active on port 1

Basically any ISP is fine from a gaming perspective. For switching from Orcon you’ll need to reconfigure your router regardless but this is basic.

Remember also there are a bunch of people here with their sign up links + codes in their signature. Use one and save a little money 😊

I recently moved to Quic
I have issues with bad ping to NA servers. I have about 240 league of legends when League of Legends NA.

I have to resort to MudFish to fix this which makes the ping about 170.
Anyone else having this issue or is this just me.

@alpay456 this isn’t actually an issue. This is just how the internet works and you’re playing on servers that are located physically quite a long way from NZ. It doesn’t matter what ISP you’re with here, you could have a good route one day and a crap one the next. This happens with the biggest providers too.

240ms vs 170ms also isn’t a huge gap. Quic never claim to be a “Gaming ISP” so if you want to control your latency here then you’re better to just use Mudfish if you feel it makes an actual difference to your gameplay.

@michaelmurfy A friend of mine with 2Degrees gets about 160 ping.

Furthermore, My ping a couple days ago was about 150 without mudfish.
Seems to be the same route when i captured the discrepancy.

A provider can’t directly control their routes once the traffic leaves their network and also ICMP is deprioritised on routers out on the internet so may not be entirely accurate. Unless if you’re noticing actual performance issues with the game just enjoy it…

There is nothing wrong here. It’s just the internet working as expected. No provider states you’re going to ever get the lowest possible latency to any service and this is always best effort no matter what provider you’re with.

This doesn’t look like a quic issue as the extra latency appears to be inside the riot network between hop 6-7. I’m guessing mudfish is going around this latency issue.

But as others have stated routes change regularly but overall I’ve found quic taking better routes than my old ISP Voyager and noticing faster response times to the west coast.
