Just switched to Quic today from Voyager thanks to @ssamjh’s write up.

Internet was down for a few hours between the old ISP dropping me at 7am and Quic connection coming online around 10am.

Happy with the performance so far, thanks Quic!

@quic
Odd question, but do you guys support 2nd port ONT activation? Or is that down to the network provider (enable, chorus ect)?

Sure do! When placing an order, just put a note in that you want the connection on another port on the ONT. Available across all LFCs. πŸ‘

Oh awesome! Also do you guys place an order for fibre? Or do I need to have an existing connection. Having a mare of a time getting skinny and enable to do anything in regards to getting fibre at my address. Like pushing water uphill with a rake.

Would like to bail on skinny entirely and move to you guys idealy.

Absolutely we do! Don't have to have an existing connection.

We'd love to welcome you on board. Rest assured we'll keep you up to date with how your install is tracking along with any info we receive from Enable. πŸ‘

There can be occasions where things like consents from neighbours in high impact installs can cause delays that we can't speed up, but we'll keep you informed.

Hey @quic - I upgraded a connection from 50 -> 300meg this week. Web interface has updated saying its on the new plan, got an email with a time for the change as well.

Speeds haven't updated though, and I have both rebooted the ONT and the CPE. Any chance the web interface is lying to me when it says the change is complete?

The lovely folks at Quic have set me up with a secondary line to test out their new BNG in Auckland in hopes to reduce packet loss.

Here's the new Smokeping instance to track their progress, I've been told that it's very much a beta connection and may go down, so if there's packet loss, it's probably that. https://home.sjh.at/testsmokeping/

We just had our internet go down for a brief second, and after looking at Sams smokeping graphs, it looks like he also caught it. Is there any progression on the packet loss problem?

I messaged them and it was a DDoS attack.

As for the packet loss, I am currently testing a new setup they have and it seems much better. There's a link to the "test" instance in my signature.

That's good news. Are you able to get more information about this DDoS attack? I'd love to know whether they were exploiting something or just saturating ports. I pray that downing the entire ISP doesn't become a common thing.
