So I have MySkyHDi connected to my HT system via Digital Coaxial and basically when I select the "Digital In" input on the HT I can only get the audio of certain programs. For example right now on Sky Movies I can get the audio off "Transformers" but not the other movies yet I get the MGM, Rialto audio etc.

Is it to do with how the content is broadcasted or am I doing something wrong?

Ok, I've figured it out. It's any HD program. Do I need a HT with HDMI or optical?

EDIT: Nevemind - Switched audio options to MPEG. All good now.

The spdif port either optical or electrical (coax/rca) carry the identical traffic, the HDMI will only carry 2ch on a HDi.

So is it getting the PCM 2ch feed when you select a channel thats not HD (ie with a DD attached feed). Another potential problem is that the DD stream is only 2ch and the AVR decoder is doing something odd, does AVR show that its detecting a DD stream?

The Mysky HDi carries 5.1 digital on the HD channels and 2 channel stereo on all the other channels. I only get 5.1 sound when watching the HD channels. I still get audio through my home theatre when watching all the other channels but only in stereo.

You might want to check your HT and check that it is accepting PCM audio via the coaxial digital input. The other option you could have a look at is in the mysky settings and change the audio stream in audio settings.

It sounds like your amp is only decoding 5.1 and not accepting the stereo signal.

Cheers,

Matt.

Mine works fine through Digital Coaxial. I have both settings on the HDi set to dolby.

The dolby digital red lights are on all the time on HD channels. Just not all pograms are 5.1 (Transformers is)
When not 5.1 only get sound left and right speakers, others are quiet - I use an annalog connection to stero once realise it's only two channel so prologic can do it's stuff, less hassel then changing decoder to mpeg.

I can't tell if it is or not, it will only tell me if its detecting a Digital In source. In both cases, Mpeg and DD, it is.

Is Mpeg better than DD or vice versa? I'm a bit confused about the 2.

EDIT: The HT screen does have a DTS and DD on the LCD but they are not lighting up...Hmm... I'm not sure if they are supposed to when its decoding the sources but I'm guessing they are there for a reason

EDIT 2: When I play a DVD the DD symbol does indeed light up.

After reading this post, I think it's fairly safe to assume that the unit has a bug. Guess I'll have to upgrade.
