Unfortunately that is the problem with the Freeview EPG data at the moment. (also effect Vist TV Pack) It is something Microsoft are looking into it (see Mikes comment above). The Sky EPG data does not seem to be a problem but it is not so simple to use. A downloadable EPG solution sounds as if it is almost there so hopefully that will fix that one.

One question for you. What sort TV do you have connected to your xbox and what sort of cable do you use? Do you have any video playback problems on it at all?

Ah crap, that basically makes it useless :( Might have to crawl back to vista then..

As for the xbox, I have 3:
- one in the bedroom connected to a std pc lcd and an amp via spdif
- one in the lounge connected to a std tv via scart and amp via spdif
- one downstairs connected to old skool tv via svideo and amp via spdif.

Finding the svideo+spdif cable was tricky - they dont stock in shops anymore, so I bought it off trademe..

It is a bit of a shame. In the mean time you can set up repetetive manual recordings and these are fine but not quite the simple push of a button it should be...

So only repeating scheduled recordings don't work then? Sucky. Hope they fix it quick but I think for now there's just too many issues. I'll be back in a few months.

I am feeling exactly the opposite. After being frustrated with Windows Vista not supporting H.264 and having to use dvbviewer I finally have DVB-T working - and WAF (Wife Acceptance Factor) went up a few points now that everything is integrated on a single user interface.

Recording is not a big deal for us, so I am happy the way things are going - for now.

I agree with you freitasm, I couldn't be happier with Windows 7 MC compared to VMC.

And if you use my workaround posted elsewhere to update the guide, series recordings are completely stable. Even though this is a complicated workaround, it is still worth the effort.

And...when EPGStream come out with their guide download solution (hopefully this weekend), the problem should disappear for good.

So I'd say hold off a few days at most.

I hate to ask a potentially silly question, however.
How does this behave with a meda extender such as a 360?
Watching freeview through 360 in addition to everything else would be nice and free stuff up

(says the man without a 360 and is still waiting for PlayTV to come out for the PS3 in the lounge)

I agree. 7MC is such a huge step above VMC that going back is simply out of the question. To cater to my recording needs I opted to install DVBviewer in windows7 and over all its working pretty well. Apart from the EPG problems in 7MC, my main issue was the dual tuner bug preventing me recording a different channel.

Now if I could only get Mauricio's "DVBviewer to VMC" fix working in 7MC, I'd be a happy man again.

Don't change back!!

I am running the beta of Nials guide importer and it works great. Also EPGStream are releasing one very soon.

If you turn off dolby digital on your xbox the stuttering goes away and the whole system is 99% perfect.

Interesting to see a patch released yesterday that fixes a lot of this stuff for tvpack - I wonder if it will be released for windows 7 in the near future - seems pretty logical that it would be - seems to be all the same issues.

The guide "fixes" above were originally released a few months ago and unfortunately did not fix the Freeview EPG problem. This latest patch is a cumulative one including that fix plus a few other things.

XMLTVNZ is a good source of XML data (there are others available too) but does not provide a way to get the info into the guide itself under Vista TV Pack or Windows 7. This is being worked on for Windows 7 at least and you can find out more info on that on by searching for Nial on xpmediacentre.com.au or there is another method at epgstream.net. Both of these are still in development however.

Hi All,
I have just setup a Win 7 Dual boot on my VMC box. I have a NOVA T 500 with dual DVB-t and a MCE150 for Sky.
I must say off the bat I am veryimpressed with the setup. I have nice HD freeview, can view Sky through analogue tuner, and am just waiting for the beta BSE. I have installed Playmovie for Bluray playback - all works well.
I tried to view the Freeview channels on my Linksys DMA2100 though, and I got a Video error.. :(

Does anyone know if the Linksys is unsupported for Freeview HD?

These Linksys units will not work at present and may or may not in future - just depends if Linksys upgrade them.
