Here's a little known fact: The UB900 I just bought from Harvey Norman came with two free UHD disks. The Revenant and Creed. Made me feel much better about the price :-)

Yes a lot of the current 4K UHD releases are films that were finished in 2K, so they are upscalled to 4K for their release.  There is a thread on the Blu-Ray forums that list true 4K masters: http://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=270798

Yes it all depends, out of all my 4k blurays only revenant was filmed in 6.5k and downscaled for commercial release hence it looks better than all my other ones

That list is deceptive, its only showing masters not raw before the master, I know for a fact a lot of the movies on that list wasnt filmed in 4k at all

For the sake of completeness I have to confess that I lied. Mad Max and Creed were the free disks. So far I've only actually watched The Lego Movie. Twice. I love the specular highlights!

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

They were all shot on film, which has higher native resolution than 4k cameras can provide. Films that were shot on 70mm back in the 1950s have resolution approaching 8k, and even bog-standard 35mm is around 4k.

Nah man chunk of those films were not filmed on film but a bunch were although for example deadpool was filmed in 3.5k and all the cgi which is half the movie is in 2k but filmed few scenes in 4k and even 5k and 35mm for intro but it still made the list theres lots of other examples too

Haha apparently the original japanese godzilla film is going to have a raw 4k remaster because the film is still in great shape, director thinks it looks great because you can really catch all the detailing work of the sculptures which we cant see in the other versions... so I think the degredation is only if you leave it lying around instead of a temp controlled vault which hopefully companies have... but a lot of the cutting.corners so to speak is done.in the digital domain ie deadpool type shenanigans

Nice - however zero Disney / Marvel movies have been or are being released in 4K at this point.

Can I ask you UHD pros - I have a 4K monitor on my PC ... how do I watch Netflix UHD? Can I just do it from a browser? Doesn't look very UHD to me
