Balchy:
stuartgr: Hi there,

I am a longtime reader, first time poster.  I have just bought a LCD tv and hooked it up to MySky HDi via HDMI.  However after a random period of time the picture and sound cut out and do not return.  If i switch to the composite AV connections the picture and sound return but of course not in HD.

From what i can gather from online research the HDCP connection is breaking down between MySky and my tv (Samsung 4 series).  Has anyone else encountered this?  "Up" time can range from 1 minute to 24 hours.

Any help would be much appreciated.....I would like to watch the AB's in HD this weekend without any problems :).

Stuart

lol lets try that again - I'm definitely no expert, but I'm thinking the easiest thing to check would be to try another HDMI cable first off?

Yeah I will have to try and track another one down - don't want to spend loads of money on something that may or may not fix the problem.   In saying that however I tested the HDMI cable with my Laptop and there were no problems.

Before you go forking out for a new HDMI cable you might want to check that your box is set to display HDCP warnings. (Press Setup, 4, 4, 1, 2 and make sure HDCP warnings are set to all warnings.) If it is a HDCP failure then you should get a warning on screen. From what I've read it seems more likely the box is a dud. Have you tried using component cables as a temporary workaround? Although it's an analogue signal you still get HD on the sports channels.

Yeah I have been getting the HDCP failed warnings once the screen goes blank on HDMI.  Initially it will say successful but then change to failed.  Either the TV or the STB are not communicating the HDCP handshake properly i think.

Dingbatt: Have only had MySkyHDi for a couple of weeks.  It is hooked up via HDMI to the plasma, via SCART-composite to CRT-TV and to the Panny HDD Recorder via SCART-SCART.
Apart from the previously discussed IR remote difficulties the unit has operated well.
However, the MySky stopped providing a picture to the HDD-Recorder (connected to VCR SCART).  I suspected it may be something to do with copy protection but it occurred on all Sky Channels.  Swapping to the TV SCART brought the picture back so it was only the VCR port that was affected.
I rebooted the MySky and viola! the VCR port provided a picture again.  Has anyone else had this happen?

We just got MYSky installed last Wednesday 29th October  and so far love it.  Love not having to worry about setting up the DVD recorder and booking sky channels.

I have a similar problem with MySky Scart to DVD Scart.

Mine is hooked up to the TV via Mysky TVSCARTto Av1(yellow, white and red), then

Mysky VCR Scart to AV1 Scart on my Panasonic DVD Recorder, watched on the TV on Av2

The Panasonic DVD recorder is hooked up to my Toshiba Home Theartre via Optical cable so we can watch DVD, PC and now MySky with surrond sound.

The other option via AV1 on the TV, is so that my kids can watch Sky without having to turn all the other devices on.

But what I find, is if I put Mysky into standby, the next morning, I do not get picture via Scart to SCart(AV2) and I have to change to AV1 go into mysky setup and resave the Video output settings.  Which is Option 3.  then I get my picture back on the tv on AV2.

So I don't have any idea what this means.

Also we had our first freeze.  I was watching the news that I had used live pause on while cooking dinner (nothing was recording on the other tuners).  I got to the point of the news that I didnt want to watch, so wanted to catch up to live tv, and pressed the Sky button.  But the screen locked up and looked like it was paused.  Pressing all the buttons on remote resulted in nothing.  Pressing buttons on front of the device resulted in nothing.  Reading the troubleshooting guide, resulted in nothing.  Phoned sky and was told to open the front panel and press the red reset button...device, went red, blue, purple, then blue, or was it red again, before blue....and yey finally the picture is back again.  Was told these instructions were in the book, but I have still not found what page they are on.  Only a diagram on page 66 with a picture of a the pull down door.

I've had a few bugs with the MySkyHDi box since recieving it.

These problems are related to the remote or something. When pressing the 'i' button consecutively, sometimes the MySky box switches off. Also sometimes when pressing the "back" button it goes to a completely diffrent channel than the last one I was watching. Also sometimes pressing the 'i' button makes the sky mute, and then I have to press the unmute button. Sky has said this can either be the remote itself or the IR reciever on the MySky box that sky said is "too wide, you can try putting duck tape over the sensor, or wait till be get stock of our filter stickers"...

I'm waiting to get a new remote, if that doesnt fix the problem, ill have to try one of those 'Filter Stickers'.

Interesting, I have similar issues so would be interested to hear if a new remote or these sticker things resolves the problem.  Might try the DIY duct tape approach in the meantime.
