This new MySky HDi box has given me some problems. MySky1 also had software probs on launch date, hopefully they can fix hdi probs too.

1.  2 box Freezes today, one occurred when trying to play a recorded movie, the other time it froze when rewinding - I could not find out how to reset the box using the front control buttons, so I just switch off/on at the wall.

2. Resetting the box during recording loses what has already been recorded. With Mysky1, i believe you only lose the recording time while the box was being reset (ie, mysky1 did not delete what was already recorded).

3. Rewinding problems - many rewinding problems, i get jumpy rewinding, rewind freezes (recovererable freezes by pressing play  as opposed to above ). Rewinding seems to be an issue.

4. Universal Remote does not work so well. My logitech harmony 880 is not so good at operating mysky hdi. I some times get 'repeats', eg, pressing the down button once, triggers two steps down on the menu. I've changed the remote repeat setting to 0, but it still happens sometimes.

5. Digital out Audio level between HD and SD sources is quite different (using optical out). So, if you listen to the sound via your AV receiver, Standard definition channel volume is significantly louder than high definition channels. Not a biggy, but means you have to change the volume between different channel types.

6. Echoing sound (church effect) sometimes when playing through av receiver. Not sure if this is a real problem but maybe someone else noticed this?  I'm going to tweak settings on the receiver.

Does anyone else have similar probs to above?  The most annoying issues are 1,2 and 3.

Haven't had any of the problems you mentioned, but yesterday I was recording 3 news for my wife and watching it live as well. I went to live pause for a couple of minutes and then resumed on chaseplay. When I went to fast forward during the next commercial break it skipped ok until it caught up then froze. The only way I could get out of chaseplay was to press the stop button, then it jumped instantly to realtime. Normally chaseplay has been fine, but in this instance I was recording the programme as well.

I've had that too.

I have had 2 lockups so far. Only got it yesterday/

One was Atmospheric conditions - it never recovered from this for over 10 mins. But strangely my Multiroom Sky Digital was running fine at the same time off the same cable feed. I hope this new box is not too sensitive.

The other lockup was when I was fidling with the Live Pause then playing catch up. Not sue if it was the box or my fiddling around with all the buttons. Needed another Reset.

There is also a small red Rest button where the Smartcard go - hold that down for a few seconds and it reboots nicely. Maybe a bit gentler than pulling the power plug.

Mine has also behaved quite strangely and have only had it for a night. The 'i' info button seems to mute the sound sometimes and I have also had the info button turn the system off. Might be a bug with the remote but it's quite annoying.

I have had my unit lock up on me twice, once when I wasn't even in the room!! Only way to get it back was to pull the power plug out.

Also noticed that rewinding is a bit strange, seems to be very random in it's speed.

Not a great start.

Please people take this in the spirit that it in intended.

"Just as those who do the crime should be prepared to do the time".

Those of us who live at the bleeding edge should be prepared (hopefully ocassionly) to BLEED.

So much to learn, so little time.

I agree, there will always be hiccups with this sort of thing. It is new, give it time and give polite feedback to Sky otherwise they don't know. It is only been up and running for three days for Joe Public, be patient - I am sure they want to get the little glitches sorted to.

There's a thread about iQ2 (Foxtel version) remote issues on the Aussie DTV Forum:

Has anyone else noticed a slightly flickery or jittery picture?
I really need to get hold of a different HDTV so I can eliminate that as the source of the problem.
It's still watchable, but I feel like the frame rate isn't quite high enough or something, which makes watching sport slightly annoying. It almost feels like an encoding thing where it can't keep up and so is dropping frames..? I have no idea.
I want nice pictures, but I also want fluidity. I had no problems with the same TV using an analogue connection from my old MySky box.

Perhaps someone with an understanding of HDMI connections and the MySky HDi box could shed some light, as it is the first time I've actually connected something to the TV via HDMI....

Anyway, it's one of those things that gets really frustrating if you keep thinking about it, but which is watchable if you have a few beers and forget about it... like during the rugby tonight....

I have noticed the jittery playback on myskyhdi, particularly in panning scenes, I also get the same jitters on my htpc running through HDMI so have been blaming the TV (Philips 42PFL7422) anyone else got any ideas on this?

Have you noticed it just during playback, or is it the case when watching live too? I've got the issue all the time.
And yea, panning scenes in movies are definitely the worst. I've been sitting switching between the Analogue and HDMI inputs and the analogue is much smoother. Handy that we seem to have roughly the same TV... Mine is a Philips 47PFL7422.

I guess the fact that you get jitter from your PC as well doesn't bode well for us, and would suggest it is the TV causing the problem....

When I brought mine, retailer played DVD disc that showed TV's jittering on panning. I brought TV that I have as it was one that wasn't jittering. I asked retailer why and answer was because of 100 hzt scan and also TV has a 3 milli second response time. Most are 8, including one I noticed that sells for $70,000.

Also it has perfect pixel HD and natural motion HD. Don't know if these things are to make TV look better, or if really do make difference, but haven't had any panning issues to date.

Help!!! This time I have a slightly more serious problem with a box freeze. I had the rugby booked to record and also Star Wars, but we wound up watching the rugby on chaseplay about 60 mins behind real time. When the game ended I went to delete the recording via the planner and the screen hung with "deleting" showing. Star Wars should have stopped recording by now but the red light is still on. I don't want to reset the box just in case it deletes Star Wars as well...

I recorded the F1 qualifing last night on both Mysky and Mysky HDi but an unable to watch on either piece of Hardware this morning.
The Mysky comes up with "Recording has been interupted....Please Wait" (even though I watched some of it live on this machine) and the Mysky HDi comes up "C029 Playback is unavailable Call your service provider for assistance". I can watch things live but I can't use live pause or recording on most channels. (except TV1, TV2)
Sky are sending out a technican to investigate today. My guess is they will just change the decoders to see if this resolves the problem.
