Yeah, and HDMI CEC is working again! w00t.
I see nVidia didn't want to be shown up so have hit the go button the Shield update too. Now only need the Bravia (haha, not holding my breath on that) to get Oreo and everything will be the same at home!
Awesome,
Whats the state with tvnz or threenow apps for it? still not officially working, wondering if side loading is any better.
Also can the Live Channels app now pause? i use a iptv solution by matt H which works great but no pause currently in the live channels app on mm.
My MiBox 4k updated over the weekend to Oreo.
I like the idea, although the layout seems cluttered to my minimalist tastes. I suspect this is because the TV in the apartment is quite small. I think it would look better on a big screen.
A little annoying that the upgrade has added a whole lot of junk apps to the home screen. But I assume I can hide or delete these.
I'll be interested to see if it now supports chromecasting from Lightbox, which is something I've never been able to get going in the past.

I got a Mi Box yesterday and when I set it up it auto updated so I never really knew the prior UI. But I like what I'm seeing with the new one. Great to have On Deck and Recommended shows from Netflix/Plex/etc show up on the home screen so i can get to them without navigating the specific app.

I don't mind the layout, but the device seems a lot less stable than before the update. Occasionally Netflix and other apps experience a massive slowdown, only remedied by removing and replacing the power cable. This also happens after a factory reset.
I'm rather regretting updating the OS to be honest. It just worked (TM) when it was on 6.0.

Yep, remove the channels down the bottom (from memory) and if you long press on the app shortcuts, you can remove them too. Removing things would reduce RAM usage too.

Have noticed the same thing. Watching a movie the other night on Netflix was painful, ended up restarting twice then switching to the PS4 to watch instead. Hopefully something that could be worked out with an update.
I haven't noticed any slowness @kingjj @gurezaemon but I did notice a drop in audio for a second in two places while watching Netflix last night. But I'm not sure if that was by design or not, given the episode I was watching of Glow was filmed like an 80's TV show episode on VCR. I'll try again tonight. I did notice that Plex on the Android TV OS was having trouble with some SD MP4 content. Just hung while playing, whereas the Plex client on my LG TV handled it fine as normal. I did see something mentioned on the Plex forum about that, maybe an AC3 issue on Android TV

There is quite a lot of buzz out there on the interwebs about this, but it seems inconsistent. Many people are happy with the new update, whereas others are ruing the day they let the OS update. People are in contact with Xiaomi, hoping for some fix.
Its not bad, got the update running nice and quick. Turned all those 'channels' off except for Netflix, the only issue is it shows the last user logged into Netflix's shows so its forever changing between our adult account and kids accounts. Be good if Netflix let you select one user for it. The Netflix app isn't exactly amazing on android tv anyway.
The only slowness I've noticed is when running SPMC.

Update - there was an automatic update a couple of days ago, which seems to have fixed a lot of things. Here's hoping it continues to behave itself...
FYI - new new update rolled out as well - which has fixed the NTFS/Exfat issues some were having with USB drives - like me.
Means I can now have my Kodi dB on the usb drive as it was too large for the int rom.
Also re the GUI being cluttered....err no - you can have almost nothing on it if you choose by customising your APP row AND channels list.

You can side load Lightbox onto the MiBox, instead of chromecasting.
what about tvnz and three
