There have been posts on the MP forums regarding the interface not likeing the lower spec cards but i havent seen any issues with video playback - but I could be wrong. I updated to a 9600gt some time ago just for the hell of it - very nice smooth video playback.
Does anyone else use the refresh rate changer in win 7? I have this working in Vista and just want to be sure I wont lose it moving to 7 (and possibly RC1).
Great to see the new version out. After some cautious testing on a 'test' system I finally installed it at the weekend. All looking good so far!
One thing that caught my eye on the MP forums was a comment by "thesystemera" that it now supported the NZ Freeview DVB-T EPG so "no more need for a damm 3rd party epg downloader any more.."
Now... I don't feel quite so strongly about the epg loaders as I have found Mentalinc's software pretty good... but I thought I should give it a go as it would be one less bit of software to manage. I tried setting this up and got the 'now and next' programs but didn't seem to get the full week. Has anyone else played with this successfully?
I've just upgraded from Win Vista and MP 1.0.0, to Win 7 64bit and MP 1.1.0 RC1.
One thing I've noticed is that the MP client hogs my CPU even when it is not recording or playing, or being used at all. When it is idle and in focus it runs one of my CPU cores at about 25%+!!!, when I switch back to the task manager (so MP is not in focus) the CPU drops right back down to a few percent. When it is recording and playing, I can hear my CPU fan spin up faster, which is annoying (it does still appear to be using hardware graphics acceleration). My previous set-up did not have this problem and was quite easy on the CPU.
Anyone else noticed this? Or is there something wrong with the way I've got MP configured? Any suggestions?
I'm using an 8500GT and I also noticed some stuttering for 5 seconds after recorded TV starts playing or resumed from pause, or after skipping. Turning off Aero fixed this problem. With my previous installation I had no problem even with Aero turned on.
I am discovering some useful improvements and features in the newer MP. Its mainly the increased CPU wastage that is concerning.
I should have probably tried the new version on Vista first rather than upgrading both the OS and MP simultaneously, as I can't tell if it is the OS or MP at fault.

Can anyone else confirm that this refers to the DVB-T MHEG5 EPG or just the Now and Next that is within the EIT stream? I think MP has always supported DVB-T Now and Next, but if it now supports the full 8 day EPG on DVB-T then that is very good news.

And i just underclocked it to 420mhz (default 460mhz) to keep the temps down as its passive. Still plays TV3 perfectly fine except for the signal screwing up. GPU load sits at around 60% ish and 250mb/512mb of memory used.
I've used the Cyberlink codec in the past and now im using the microsoft DTV one with win7.
what software do you use for this? i would like to know the gpu load etc, as i only have a 256mb 8600GT and if yours is using 250mb..

My main HTPC is based on a X2 4800+ (dual core 2.5GHz) and is using the CPU and CoreAVC to do the decoding. Worked great with TV 3 and MP 1.0 Final, but both MP 1.01 and 1.02 gave me stuttering play back on TV3. I recently updated this box to MP 1.1 RC1 and TV 3 is playing fine - I did see somewhere that the "fix" introduced in 1.01 and 1.02 (that caused this issue) was backed out in 1.1 - but who knows :)
