Aaroona: Does anyone have/have experience with the Vmoda LP2's or M-100's?

Looking at purchasing either one of these, but unsure... Don't want to drop ~$500 on something that I haven't tried :(

I suck at waxing on poetically about headphones but here we go.

Yeah, I bought the M-100 for a buddy for his birthday. I ran them in for a good 10 hours before giving them to him, so maybe they hadn't fully opened up yet, but..

The EQ was definitely V shaped. Mids were recessed. Bass had good extension but wasn't detailed. Upper bass was a little bloomy. Trebble was energetic, and rolled off at the very top end. Definitely not highly resolving cans that bring all the nuances t the surface.

Excellent build quality. Prone to scratching it seemed (but that just adds to the coolness). Very tight/snug fit helped with isolation. Pleather/foam on the cups was rather firm - It was still rather comfy despite the tight fit + harder cups. I was happily listening for hours on end (the EQ helped with low listening fatigue also)

Do some research on the cables too. They were a bit weird. 1 had a remote, the other had a splitter so you could plug in a second pair of cans. No straight cord.

All in all a fun listen, and played bass music well. Probably good for someone who just walks to work for 20mins and wants to blast some tunes. DEFINITELY not audiophile headphones though. Just not enough detail, and they've obv been EQ'd.

At that kinda price you could be looking at Senn Momentums (closed, outdoor use), or Senn HD600 (open, so indoor use. would prob need an amp though).

I have a senn hd600 powered by a fiio e17. The senn sounds a bit thin. I like the sound signature itself but it is Like not enough body, not full i'm not sure if you get what i mean ...

So what's the problem? My cans or my amp? Does the usb amp matter? Is there a portable one nearly as good as a schiit asgard that can decode off galaxy s4?

I am planning to get rid of both and get the audeze lcd2 ... Will that solve my sound problem?

Amazing, worth the wait.

Congrats man! Fantastic headphone, still recall my first few listens on my own LCD-2s (which I sold on the same day yours arrived, as it happens).

Wondering what you mean by low frequency loving though? Pretty sure the LCD-2 will beat out the TH-900s in the bass department, quite soundly I would think.

For my money you want something to complement the LCD-2 sound - something with a much better soundstage/imaging/treble like the HD800 (but to each their own in this wonderful subjective hobby).

My own headphone journey advanced over the course of the weekend - got my HE-6 and speaker taps adapter and struck out to try it on a speaker amp. The salesman was gratifyingly perplexed when I produced a pair of headphones to connect to the Topping TP60, which puts 80W per channel into 8ohm. The bass was the main thing I noticed in comparison to how I've been accustomed to hearing the HE-6. Better extension, better weight, better texture while still being fast, tight and without any bloom or bleeding over other frequencies. I already liked the bass from the HE-6, so was frankly quite surprised to hear it improve so noticeably. I can safely say I have absolutely no regrets about selling my LCD-2 - while I already preferred the bass sound overall in the HE-6, I now feel like those areas where I'd given the LCD-2 what I thought was a fairly healthy lead are now so close I don't feel I'm giving up a lot. I know many adore the LCD-2 for all styles of music, but for my ears their genre bandwidth was very limited. The HE-6 on the other hand sounds good for everything and especially adept at rock and metal which are key for me. The most exciting thing about all of this is knowing the HE-6 can still potentially sound a fair bit better than this...

I have LCD2s but I rarely listen to them these days, I use speakers. I was interested in the Mad Dogs, which are modified low end Fostex's, but decided I didn't want to pay $300 for a modified $75 headphone.

I don't know what rev they are. I wouldn't sell them, I use them occasionally, and they're my reference headphones for reviewing everything else that gets sent to me. Though since google changed their algorithm and headphonereviews.org has gone down to page 2 I've had significantly fewer headphones to review.
