I'd say $400 or so. If I didn't already have a paid I'd snatch yours in a heartbeat. They are outstanding. I would keep them honestly.

I'd recommend holding on to them until you've had a good chance to hear the HD700. You may find that the HD700 sound signature is not to your liking and that you actually prefer the HD650, despite the HD700 possibly being the more technically proficient headphone. From what I've seen the HD700 can be somewhat polarising...

I second this, though I have no experience with the HD700, I have tried a fair variety of phones in price ranges all the way through and I will never sell my HD650's. The net is full of people who have sold them to buy them back again at a later date.

Will definitely hold on to them until the 700s have had a good couple of hundred hours burn in and I'm sure that I prefer them over the 650s. Would love to keep both but that's a lot of moneys worth of gear and cant really justify it.

I was thinking of asking $350 for the 650s so looks like I'm in the right ballpark at least.

timmmay, I have a nice pair of brilliant white in ears that came with my iPhone that you can have for $50, I'll even throw in free postage :-)

Think I'm happy with the LCD2's thanks mate ;) I haven't used them for months, I use the little speakers in my office more, or the big home speakers.

HD700 finally arrived yesterday, had a listen this morning after about 12 hours of burn in. Initial thoughts are higher levels of detail and clarity. Not sure about all the reports of low bass, I think its just that the bass is clearer then the HD650 which I think can sound a little muddy. Listening to some discloser and the bass was tight and deep on the HD700.

Much wider sound stage and great instrument separation.

Have heard a little of the bright treble but not to any annoying level as yet. I'll give them a few more days burn in and then do some more comparisons between the two.

Early days but so far I like them.

Hey guys. I was considering investing in a headphone amp. Just wanted to get your opinions on which one to get - nothing too pricey at this stage (sub 100 bucks). Are there any particular ones that you guys would recommend?

I have got the Audio Technica M50 that I absolutely love and was thinking if i am getting the best sound out of those or not yet. Plugged into my computer or MP3 player most times.

I have a PPA headphone amp sitting on my desk, all sorts of good stuff inside, fed with an optical input and a DAC inside it. Unless you have headphones that are hard to drive IMHO it makes no difference at all - helps a little with the headphones I have, LCD2. I wouldn't waste your money unless you have magic ears or too much money. If you're in Wellington you're welcome to come try it out.

+1, at that level probably a better return on saving for a better transducer.

That said, I"d be surprised if even the M50 didn't improve somewhat with some amping. Something like the Dragonfly 1.2 with a DAC and amp might be a worthwhile investment for now short of new cans.
