This rarely happens. The mounting systems generally have enough flexibility to fix to studs and still be able to align the TV in your desired position.

toejam316: LG is teasing the X series TV's on Facebook now, so I suspect they'll be on the market by early May, if not sooner. Possibly next week?

Reading between the lines on their comment response I suspect the products are already on the shore, awaiting for covid L2 restrictions for people to visit instore..

With other parties recommendation around the fixed brackets, can you still access the cables easily or do you dismount the TV every time you add an I/O?

At the angle I have mine on, yes. Side facing ports are only just feasible, rear facing ports would be a PITA.

If you haven't seen it, FlatpanelsHD has a review up of the CX. It sounds like it is definitely more an evolution (and a minor one at that) than revolution. New features like Filmmaker Mode, Dolby Vision IQ etc just sound like small refinements rather than anything that pushes the game ahead. Even the 120hz BFI that I have been waiting for doesn't sound that great in practise; high is almost unusable, lowering the brightness by 75%! Still interested to see how it looks IRL, but it is looking more like it might be better to just grab a C9 on the way out. Certainly for most people, that would be the way. It's certainly looks like it has the same HDMI 2.1 implementation.

There is also an owners thread on AVSForums for the CX that covers a lot of the features, but you have to wade through a lot of grab-ass to get to ACTUAL owners...

Re wall mounting - you MUST have at least 2 good screws into stud. If not centered then wall anchors will help reduce movement in mount. You could also screw a piece of ply across 2 studs then screw the mount to the ply.

There will be some EOL deals on Panasonic soon, they are pulling out all TV's from Australasia as the market is too hard. Thats OLED and LED!

Not sure what this will mean for ongoing software support. That will only leave LG, Sony & Philips in the OLED game.

Can you provide a source for that info? Everything I have heard seems specific to Australia, no mention of NZ.

I imagine software support will be exactly the same as now: none. Whatever generic OTA updates make it through the global network.

And I suspect in the next couple of years we will see more Chinese players in the OLED game, and Samsung presumably rolling out their QD-BOLED on the premium end.

A friend who works for a National AV installation company told me last week. You probably know they pulled out of USA as well, they must be close to stopping all TV's. I cannot fathom how they would drop Australia and NOT drop NZ with it. Our market is miles smaller.

In reality, the Aussie TV arm of their business hasn't performed as well as NZ's.

But until we get an announcement re: NZ, it's all just rumours.

Yes, just spoke to the national commercial sales manager at HN, he hasn't heard anything yet and is in contact with Panasonic regularly. He's keeping an eye on it though..

I'm in the market for a 65" OLED and the Pana GZ1000 leads the charge at the moment, just waiting on sell through deals at HN so can grab it under $3200. FWIW on clearance in Australia last month the GZ1000 65" went as low as $2800 AUD

Would be great intel to share when the prices are that low! I have been keeping a watch on the prices and shops like NL have been setting 'deals' with random end dates and looking at the 65C9 (which currently is priced at $4799 and supposedly offer ending on 26 May 2020, hard to see them doing a clearance pricing on them.

Cheapest the 65" C9 has been is Boxing Day sale 2019 at $3695, in March HN had it for $3895, if you haggle you should be able to get it at that price.

I guess it depends on when the CX starts rolling out, but from memory the EOL discounts weren't massive last year, even with the spec difference. I see JB HiFi Aus has the CX now, so hopefully we will see how aggressive the EOL will be in the next month. Failing that, catch a CX on Black Friday haha.

While the GZ1000 is a damn good TV, with the imminent release of the XSX/PS5, I am aiming for a HDMI 2.1 TV minimum, so C9/CX for me.
