I guess most people would have it in their lounge not their bedroom. I don't think mine goes off randomly. Could it get bumped during the night?

Mine goes off randomly ... (i got an xbox version off 1st in a while ago)

I believe the only difference is the XYAB written on the teletext / colored buttons.

Even on the floor I have had it light up unannounced.

Wish there was a way to turn the sleep feature off, or at least the lighting up when coming out of sleep.

There was a cheaper one when I looked that had what looked to be a green LCD screen which might hopefully be dimmer than the 525, but I am happy enough for now, just have to put it face down.

The finish on all the logitechs is pretty crap. my logitech logo was gone in a month and after 2-3 all the paint on the corners is wearing off, and the plastic is so thin that the light shines thru it, and it creaks when used. Functionality wise they cant be beat tho.

Very happy with the remote otherwise.

Mine has a not very sensitive volume down button (thankfully the mute still works) ... I suspect on the model I have the manufacturing isn't that flash, and believe that as the house receives the thumping from various sources, that's enough to giggle one or more of the buttons ... waking the remote up.

In terms of the finish, with the exception of the volume down button being naff (Have to push it down hard to get a response) overall the finish on the remote is fine.

Two things though - I go for functionality (as long as fluro pink or fluro green are not the colours de jour) and I probably don't (ab)use my remote very much ...

... sounds to me like it needs to be RMA'd and replaced ...

i definitely wouldn't put up with it. (I'm a grouchy old man now ....)

I also never use it.
Which, to me strikes me as a product low on usability.*
It's a pity, I'd heard good things. :-(

if you are going to give it a go, you will probably want to set asside 4 hours. I had to deploy a incorrect configuration first, then delete all the test devices and isntall the correct ones.

You sure the rattling isn't the movement sensor which turns the lights on when you pick it up?

I am glad I bought one of these, had it set up in about 10-15 minutes. One button to turn everything on etc is awesome. Have now removed all the batteries from my other remotes and put them away.

10 - 15 minutes? it took longer than that to perform the 3 cycles of client updates, then deploying to the remote, rebooting the remote, and the testing (which failed). I can only assume you had a preloaded client and remote with a DVD player and TV.
