ok ive gotten freeview working in nextpvr (still cant get use to calling it that :))

now im trying to get it to work in "for the record" (since im using xbmc pvr as the front ends this seems to be the easiest best windows server). my satellite setings are these (had to manual add them, one down side of for the record is the limited nz support)

<sat name="Optus D1" flags="1" position="1600">
<transponder frequency="12456000" symbol_rate="2250000" polarization="1" fec_inner="3" system="0" modulation="1"/>
</sat>

and then im using these
low freq: 10750000
high freq: 10750000
lnb switch freq: 10750000

problem is, in for the record no channels are found during the scan. do any of those setings look wrong?

can you post your newcs.xml file for this reader? i just got mine today and want to start using it. also do i need an acamd config file or something?

so far what ive got

- quad tuner mentioned in this thread
- for the record has discovered all sky channels, cant view them atm as they are encrypted
- mediaportal also has discovered all the sky channels
- newcs but no valid newcs.xml file

i believe i need acamd or something else, but not sure where to put this or how to use it with mediaportal or ftr, any advice?

update, i have gotten this working with nextpvr/gbpvr. recording 7 sky channels at once :)

thanks everyone for the help/advice setting it up.

nextpvr was the easiest to setup :)

anyone ever have this issue with a card reader

burning my sky chip... still works though.. not sure for how long though... could this catch fire?

In my omnikey my card gets very mildly warm. I've heard of this on the phoenix type readers which are much more 'dumb'. The omnikey should auto-detect voltage and card type etc. Have you had this in a different reader at some point? Surprised it's still working! Maybe Sky are still pissed about the whole EPG thing and are sending a 'burn signal' over the air to your card

this card hasnt been in any other card reader (had a phoenix reader kill another card, so didnt risk putting a card in that one again). im using oscam for the card reading, i may have to set the voltage in that to 357, hopefully that sorts the issue. just really really hope this doesnt catch on fire.... anyone know if this could or couldnt?

It is plastic and there is no ignition source. It will fuse before it gets to the flash point.

Looks like you are running it at too high voltage.

Just wondering, how hard was it to get the previous card replaced? I thought Sky gets very suspicious if their cards burn out.

Plastic can burn - it is just carbon after all - but that is quite heavy grade plastic so it would have to get *very* hot. A short circuit caused by the chip or its housing melting is unlikely, and even less likely to catch the plastic on fire. I agree - too much current running through that card, probably caused by too much voltage. I would be just as concerned about causing damage to the card reader either physically or electronically...

I've been trying to work out how you cooked 2 different cards in 2 different readers. Could there be something wrong with your usb voltage? I doubt there is anything you could set in oscam config that could cause this.
