I hardly used to buy any Bluray , or 4K UHD locally as we got shafted on releases.

It was great when Zaavi Uk allowed international shipping to NZ and it was only £2.00 I got a great number of steelbooks via them and my Arrow and Criterion releases.  Then they abruptly stopped shipping to Aus/NZ.  I got only a couple from Zaavi Aus, then they stopped listing any movies on the Aus site.. crazy..

Like you, I also imported many SteelBooks from Zavvi UK and HMV UK. Occasionally Amazon had an exclusive as well. In the early days HMV had some excellent Steels and collecting was fun (but expensive). I think the majority of SteelBooks available now are just money grabs, and the true premium releases have all but disappeared.

The Chinese group, Blufans, still sell quality Steels, but are far too expensive for the everyday collector.

Yes, Zavvi used to be great. Maybe the NZ gst thing put paid to that.

But some NZ prices are just fantasy land. JB NZ John Wick 4 for $48, thats the sale price if you want the 4K / bluray combo. I actually ordered that from JB AU but they sent my money back as the supplier couldn't supply it.

I browsed the Trade Me 4K Ultra HD section, and their prices are just ridiculous. Many used titles are asking for more than we can buy new at an online store. Do people really get sucked in to these prices?

Apparently some do (or put another way, I guess it works), you should see some of the prices mentioned for the Lawrence of Arabia steelbook.

Mind you, as I mentioned I think here somewhere, even $9.99 on Amazon US doesn't sound so good when you add $10+ postage, plus gst, plus converting to NZ$....

When I get the artwork and full info and specs for new releases, I will post them separately, but I won't include release date or prices, because they can change after I post. That info will be available on the weekly update sheet.

I am planning on adding the links (where available) to the weekly update to make it easier to find the individual posts, and save users having to go looking for them. Just click on the post#, then click on the back arrow to return to the list.

Hoping that it will work okay. Thursday 27th July will be the first effort.

Beginning to get my act together, so I'm expecting things to go a lot smoother from now on. Please bear with me 😀
