As I say, they were running this price as a promotional thing over the particular weekend that I called them. I was told to call back later the following week when the sets would arrive. So I did and they still sold me the set at the previous weekends special promotional price. A very nice store actually if any of you get a chance to visit. A very large store too, with lots of stuff in it, and no fluoro lighting above the TV's !
Holy cow that's cheap! Nice score - dunno if I've ever seen one even close to that... under $2000 would be a nice deal. But at that price... wow, easy decision.

got quoted the floor model V20 in the 22's.
Ok, that's not good. When I called during the weekend of 13-14th of June, some salesman told me the price, which I queried 3 times with him. He told me to call back during the week when they had 4 sets arriving. So I called back on the following Thursday, and this salesman wasn't there. I was told that it was a promotional price for the weekend just gone only. I told them I had been told by the salesman concerned to call back during the week, and the manager decided that since I had only done what their salesman said to do, he would honour the price. I suppose it was a piece of good fortune. Good on the manager for honouring the price though.
Hardly Normal quoted me $2100 for one, so try there. I'm sure the price will decrease on these sets soon though.

I spend some time in the shop comparing V20 with Sony EX500 (40" in the high 14's), the color and viewing angle on the V20 appears to be better, but even consider V20's recording functions and larger screen size, the price gap is still too big to be justified atm.
I didn't check U20 since it doesn't have Neopdp. Too bad we are not getting S20 or G20 here to fill the price gap.

We are being shafted on everything other than the VT. The V20's not only lack THX mode, but they are Infinite Black panels instead of Infinite Black Pro found in the North American/European V20 units.

Don't know about all this buzzing and fan noise, I haven't noticed it. I know it only draws a maximum of 139w though

went to a HN shop today, put my ears against the back each side yes the buzzing is quite apparent and changes pitch n volume based on the display content. for some ppl with sensitive hearings it might be an issue. didn't notice fan revving up.
that shop had a horrible setup for the V20, and the color from a nearby EX500 actually looked better... with all the time spent convincing customers they should really put sometime into tweaking the TV first. i might go back to GG for another look.
40 EX500 draws 90w max. a 50 inch v20 draws between 60 and 300w over 10 min of tv program from reviews I've seen. v20 only feels warm to the touch though, it doesn't feel as hot as last year s10/g10.
