jbard:
Must have stayed up far to late waiting for windows 8 ;)
Things are LookingUp.... A photo from my back yard :-)
LookingUp: Sorry - been a bit lazy and haven't read all the posts or technical docs - can anyone tell me if this thing will be fast enough to stream HD video with XBMC?
The reason I ask is that I've just tried XBMC on Ubuntu on an "old" PC I had spare (was top spec ~4 years ago) and HD streamed video is jerky and breaks up. VLC plays the same streams fine (very well in fact) so it seems the hardware is up to the task.
This makes me wonder how it will run on the Raspberry PI, given that it's a substantially lower spec than the PC I'm playing with.
jbard:
Yes their is video of it playing full 1080p mp4 files.

LookingUp: Ah - sorry, should have mentioned, my XBMC on Ubuntu plays HD files ok - even from the same source as the streamed content, it just fails with the streamed ones.
chevrolux: If you were streaming 1080p wouldnt you just go cable?
This thing amazes me! How do they get something that is conventionally 'underpowered' to play 1080p? There are some smart fellas around huh.
edit: sorry... did you mean streamed off the net? got confused lol

styxgeist: There seems to be two Raspberry Pi devices on Element 14's NZ site. Can anyone see what the difference is other than the price?

From what I can see they are both Model B's yet a significant difference in price!
