ScreenDazed: Thanks - yes in fact the JZ I was looking at has gone. Any big reservations about the 2022 LZ1500 in your research beyond additional price? Our living room is fairly bright, so extra brightness could be worthwhile for some tv, though our movie watching is mostly night.

No reservations at all. That's an excellent TV. May pay to shop around, there seems to be some really good prices on TVs at the moment. Just noticed the 55" Samsung s95 oled is $2586.

So that price of $2586 was at Noel leeming for the s95b OLED 55". I think it was a mistake - I cannot even find that TV on their website anymore.

I definitely recommend the Samsung QD-OLED, I bought the 55” over a month ago and it’s my first Oled and absolutely awesome!

if you can’t get it calibrated then go to the avsforum, they have some tweaks for the 4 modes (sdr/hdr) which improves things even more as the 2 current Vivid and Standard modes are pretty naff.

Night time viewing with hdr movies is great.

I did find another JZ1000 55" for $2300 -.Magness Benroe and Extreme Appliances had them. But then Harvey Norman dropped the LZ1500 55" price nearly $300 and offered a $300 gift card on top so I went for it.

Very pleased, an amazing leap having my first OLED and 4K set, and it's more than bright enough despite all our windows. In bright daytime conditions news and TV is great in the brighter modes. Movies are good but best in the darker modes with blinds down or at night.

Does anyone have the Panasonic JZ980 or 1000 (looking at getting the 65" model) - and how have you found it?

i HAVE A 65" GZ1000, Absolute perfection in a TV. Been faultless for the 29 months Ive owned it. The only thing I would like now/future proof would have been HDMI 2.1. But apart from that its been perfect

We've got a JZ980 55" as the second TV, and find the picture excellent; while I've not done direct comparisons with our main TV (a 65" GZ1000, I think), we're totally happy with it. The most irritating problem has been over the last few weeks we've had an intermittent issue with some (but not all) apps not working, which was temporarily fixed by unplugging/plugging back in, and seems to have been permanently solved by shifting to Ethernet.

Personally, I prefer the basic but solid interface of Panasonics over the wiz-bang of Android TVs or LG's WebOS, but of course YMMV. But, in the end, it's the PQ that counts, and no complaints there and no regrets in having selected the 980 over the 1000 and saved a few hundred bucks. (As for the delight of getting rid of a cruddy LG LCD panel...)

This is probably more relevant to the deals forum with the prices currently, but I thought it might be worth mentioning since I went down the rabbit hole already.

Harvey Norman is retailing a line of LG OLEDs at first glance I mistook for their normal C line OLEDs, but is actually a Black Friday special than comes in a decent amount cheaper than the C2.

The CS line is an amalgamation of different lines by using a non-EVO OLED panel I believe is shared with the B2 but using the stronger processor, 4 x HDMI 2.1 ports, and case of a C2.

For the right price (65" going for $3288 currently plus a $300 HN giftcard), I reckon it's worth taking a punt as the brightness is not going to make or break anyone's viewing experience. If that 77" model could come down to a similar sort of scale (~$5k), that might be enough to get me off the side lines...

Also worth mentioning the last years model 65" Panasonic JZ980 is at a good price of $3088 right meow as well

Some good and interesting deals going now. I’m looking at a 65inch, used for watching tv, streaming services, some sports and a little gaming (Xbox series x). I’m torn between Samsung s95b and LG C2. Lg is a little more expensive at the moment $3898 vs $3500 for the Samsung.

Any advice/ real life comparisons.

We have an S95B and a Cx. The only major downside of the Samsung for me is the os, Tizen. It's terrible compared to LG. Also you need to absolutely baby the Samsung around, its very delicate, you can't wipe finger prints off the screen or you get blue smudges in the moth eye filter.

Just based on my opinion I'd take the C2 everyday

I have the 55" Samsung S95B, my first OLED and it is awesome! Comparing to my very old 50" LG Plasma and the Samsung blows it away by about 1 million percent!

Yes the Tizen OS is absolutely crap, how can it be slow in this day and age?

Yes the Samsung is very delicate/fragile, why does everything have to be so thin! (much relieved to find my panel wasn't pre-bent)

I've read many reviews online saying the Samsung is the best for gaming, even beating the mighty LG OLEDS!

I only use it for Movies and TV/YouTube and super impressed, don't use the horrible 'Dynamic' and 'Standard' modes, the Movie and Filmmaker modes are the ones to use, and further setting tweaks for them online which improves the accuracy/colour noticeably for the better!

I put off getting an OLED for many years due to the well known horrible LG panel quality issues for uniformity, tinting, etc and it sounded like a real panel lottery to get a decent one.

The new QD-OLED basically have none of the usual OLED (LG panel) weaknesses. (Shame on LG for not being able/bothering to improve on it for whatever reason)

And this new Samsung QD-OLED just keeps getting cheaper by the day while the similar equivalent Sony version remains stupidly sky high!

Anyway just my 2 cents worth.

I got the 65" C1 this time last year, I also have a Series X (Halo Edition!) and it's the best decision I made. Granted I was updating from a 7 year old TV, but gaming and watching movies etc on the C1 is just amazing. I'd spend the extra $$ but also make sure you're getting the correct HDMI cables so your xbox is outputting at 120 fps.

Thanks for this, the delicacy is quite relevant as having two boys 10 and 12, delicacy is not something they do too well. I don’t expect it to get knocked around but they can certainly brush past etc
