Welcome to the Weekly 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray & SteelBook Release Schedule for Thursday April 18th.

This past week has seen a lot of new release activity in both NZ and Australia. Dates changed in NZ and a notable price rise for NZ titles. The Crow had a SteelBook Edition added to the EzyDVD website before it was replaced by the Standard Edition; only for DVD Land to list the SteelBook on their website at a reduced price. I won't add the SteelBook to the schedule until more information can be gathered about it.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Click on the post# links for the individual release information (artwork, specs, etc.) where available. Just click on the link and it should take you to the correct post. Then click on the back arrow to return to the schedule.

Individual film artwork and specs will be posted as soon as ALL info is available  •  Release dates are subject to change  •  New Releases will be displayed for one week after release date.

There's going to be a 4K North by Northwest according to Warner Bros UK shop. It says 31 Dec though, but date might be a placeholder.

Because of the ridiculous price to import STOP MAKING SENSE from A24 studios, I was gonna go Digital (iTunes). I had a good look at the NZ listing and found that it only has Dolby Digital audio. The US iTunes listing has a Dolby Atmos audio track and reading some reviews, it sounds great, so the Physical Media release can be expected to improve on that. I would love to have this film in my collection, but I won't buy an inferior product be it Digital or Physical. I guess it's just a matter of wait and see if A24 allow a wide release that we can buy from Amazon etc. 😡

I'm really hoping so too, that shipping price from A24 is extreme.

The Digital Bits have reported that Lionsgate Home Entertainment (US) have been running an interactive poll on Patreon and Twitter/X pages over the past week. The question was: For the studio’s new 4K catalogue SteelBook line, would you prefer new custom artwork or original poster artwork? Nearly three thousand people voted and the majority were for the original poster artwork. A lot of the voters said that it would really depend on what the original poster artwork looked like and a number of people suggested that a good compromise might be to include new custom art on a library slipcase, and then have the inner SteelBook art be the original poster design. That sounds like a pretty great idea, and reportedly, Lionsgate has been following the poll closely.

I've never been a fan of Mondo SteelBook artwork or any of the other cartoonish art. Give me the original poster art every time.

Some of the titles will be former Best Buy exclusives that I could never get my hands on. Here's hoping that Amazon will stock them and we can all have a bite of the cherry this time.

Could we dare to hope that Australia will also get these SteelBooks?

Anyone know about -

Ezydvd and postage. Do they post and keep things up to date about orders i.e. if they've sent stuff do they update order status to dispatched ? Also, do they send items with tracking and do you get a tracking number ? Items ordered 16 April, still pending dispatch apparently.

Arrow video. Dispatched 18th Apr, tracked via Royal Mail (yay). Apparently hasn't even got as far as Royal Mail yet.

Don’t worry. EzyDVD never update order status to dispatched.
Your order should arrive any day now. Usually 6-9 working days.

I was excited to grab the 4k of Taxi Driver given it was a fav I never upgraded previously to blu ray. But Amazon has it listed for $45 US and steelbook only option. Pretty much $70 NZ which is pretty steep for a catalogue title. Hope this doesn’t become a trend.
I looked at a couple forums, and while some folk say it will get discounted before release, others reckon it will sell out. Still trying to feel my way with scarcity of some 4k. There’s already been a couple titles released in NZ, like Mulholland Dr and Heat, that are plentiful for 6 months then disappear.
Might just bite the bullet on Taxi Driver and use it as an opportunity to also pick up a couple discounted titles I want.
