Many reasons - 4k streaming is still vastly lower in quality than discs - in many cases a 1080 bluray will look nicer than a 4k stream.

Catalogs appear and disappear all the time on streaming services. Im not sure what the deal is with services where you "buy" a digital copy like amazon, can they disappear like they did with 1984?

Ok, the faulty 65" has been collected and the replacement 55" delivered and installed. I decided to replace with a 55" as the 65" was just a little too large for the area.

They have (had) a couple of 55" UHD Veons, and I chose the slightly more expensive one with 4 HDMI ports (incl one with ARC).

On initial turn-on I thought the picture was ghastly. The black background seemed to light up the room, and the picture itself seemed very fuzzy. But either it self improved or I got used to it as after a short while I could not detect either.

Initially I just could not get the sound working. This was either TV optical output into the soundbar or TV HDMI ARC out to the soundbar. Eventually I solved the problem; I was daisy chaining the sky decoder HDMI into the Slingbox500 and out of the SB500 to the TV. Once I bypassed that and ran HDMI from the decoder to the TV everything pretty much just worked. Now that HDMI/ARC/CEC are all enabled drive the soundbar the TV remote and the soundbar remote both work the same through CEC. Annoyingly it seems that the Sky decoder doesn't support CEC - if doesn't join the party with the other remotes and just works the decoder volume not the soundbar volume. Looked for CEC in the decoder settings but doesn't seem to be anything there.

So apart from no CEC in the decoder it's all pretty good. And needed the 4th HDMI with one lost to ARC and Sky, Roku and game console in the others.

I have a serious problem with my Veon 55 inch 4K and I'm not sure what I can do about it.

When I plug the TV into my PC or laptop using HDMI it jitters. Every 5 seconds the TV doesn't refresh for a millisecond. It is really obvious.

I called up The Warehouse complaining. They sent out a TV repair guy and he changed the control board and it didn't fix the issue.

I've tried 3 different HDMI cables, different hz/resolution settings, different drivers. I've tried 2 computers, 3 graphics cards and a laptop, all do the same thing. But the TV Tuner card inside the TV works fine. I've plugged in a freeview box and that works fine. However, if I use the USB drive inside the freeview box it has the same problem as plugging the computer to the TV.

To me it seems like a design defect with the TV. The Warehouse doesn't seem to think it's their responsibility since the TV isn't damaged. They think the TV isn't intended to work with a computer and should be used to watch TV. Well.. that is one of the things I'm doing!! I've got a pci-e TV Tuner card inside my computer and use that to watch Freeview.

Can anyone think of something else I can do? I literally don't know what I can do. I'm thinking of selling it on Trademe and never buying Veon again, but I will lose a lot of money and since I don't earn a lot, it will hit me deep. I do need a working TV because I spend a lot of time in front of the TV. I can't use a regular monitor as I have chronic knee pain and I require a couch to lie on. It really ****ing pisses me off that The Warehouse would sell a TV and not have it support a computer input, how was I suppose to know it wasn't supported? It's bloody 2017, SURELY that is an important feature since a bet a lot of people plug their laptop up to a TV.

Is the computer outputting the right refresh rate for the material you are watching? If youre using a freeview tuner it will be 25/50Hz content, and if its outputting at 60 then that will cause artifacts, but more often than every 5 seconds tho.

Damn, that fixes it! So wouldn't that mean I have to change the Hz to match the fps of the video everytime I watch something?

Was also going add/ask what media player you were using.

I experienced this recently video 50Hz 1080 content on VLC player, but not when I played the same file on Windows Media Player. Bottom line, some players handle this issue better than others, but the guaranteed way around it is to match your devices output to the content of the file.

I was using VLC, but have just tried Windows Media player and Media Player classic. It does the same thing.

I don't understand how a computer monitor which supports the same Hz as this 4K TV, but yet can play weird fps videos just fine.

Because the PC monitor doesnt have frame interpolation to smooth out the low FPS.

You might find that you can turn off features of the TV to make it more like a monitor - or a game mode will also disable interpolation but then it will be constantly juddery like on the PC.

I'd be keen to get some feedback from anyone whose bought one recently. On sale again (just today) for $999. Won't be buying one today, but definitely considering one in the future. Also really keen to see what people think of the ?new Veon Smart TVs running Android 4.4.4 I think?

Think the wife would kill me if I put one of those up. We'd probably have to remove the door so it wouldn't get in the way. And I'd get whiplash playing Xbox :)
