Cal is frustrated at every turn, from his reaction to the war, how to get ahead in business and in life, and how to relate to his estranged mother.

RAZORBACK (1984) Slipcase only available for the first run

Somewhere deep in the Australian outback there's an indestructible creature that can rip a man in half and destroy a homestead in seconds. Nine hundred pounds of tusk and muscle hell-bent on terrorizing the small isolated community of Gamulla, a town as violent and primitive as the beast that threatens it. The astonishing debut feature from Russell Mulcahy (Highlander, The Shadow), RAZORBACK is a ferociously entertaining, adrenaline pumping thriller. Boasting stunning cinematography, a taut script, atmospheric music, special effects by Bob McCarron. RAZORBACK is an Ozploitation classic, bloodcurdling to the last squeal, and now this NEW BREED OF TERROR is available in stunning 4K UHD for the first time.

THE LAST WAVE (1977) Slipcase only available for the first run.

Internationally acclaimed filmmaker Peter Weir explores a startling world on the brink of apocalypse in The Last Wave, a time and place where Mother Nature and human nature are destined to collide in catastrophic disaster. When lawyer David Burton (Richard Chamberlain), is assigned a case to defend a group of indigenous Australian men, he is unprepared for the nightmares and dreamscapes ahead. Accused of murdering one of their own, the men stand trial amidst suspicious circumstances and, as Burton becomes plagued by unsettling visions, he is drawn to the mysterious Chris Lee for answers to his torment. As the erratic climate turns dangerous, Burton senses a greater power at play, where tribal customs and the ancient ideas of Dreamtime may be more than just an ominous warning. Featuring atmospheric cinematography by Oscar® winner Russell Boyd, The Last Wave is a haunting journey into the depths of the unknown, where dreams and nightmares conspire as one, now presented in stunning 4K UHD for the first time.

Now that I'm back into collecting Physical Media, I've been looking around to see what I've missed. One SteelBook that caught my eye, is the TOP GUN: Maverick release from Paramount. Collector's worldwide say that its a really nice offering, with a glossy finish. I already have the film in my iTunes library, but after reading Casimir Harlow's 10/10 review of the 4K Ultra HD disc at AV Forums UK, I decided that I need both the film and the SteelBook in my collection.

I searched the websites of all of the online retailers that I have used before. The SteelBook was a General release in the UK, but all retailers had sold out. It was released at the end of October 2022 over there. I finally found one at JB Hi-Fi NZ, which may be the only retailer with any in stock. The Christchurch store didn't have any, so I had to order online and hope that it arrives undamaged.

Here is the link to Casimir Harlow's glowing review of the 4K Ultra HD disc: Top Gun: Maverick - 4K Ultra HD Review

My TOP GUN: Maverick SteelBook arrived today in a padded mailer and it is in mint condition. Gonna insert the disc into my player this afternoon.

If any of you would like to comment on 4K Ultra HD discs (not film reviews), that you have recently bought, I reckon that this thread is as good as any to post in.

I have really got the collecting bug back again. Ordered three films from the Buy 2 Get 1 free JBAU sale yesterday.

Jungle Cruise (2021), West Side Story (2021) and a guilty pleasure of mine; Alita Battle Angel (2019). $NZ66.53 shipped, so $NZ22 each.
