Aviatora:

Ahh, I had seen your earlier post about the steelbook for The Crow, and I was tempted to cancel my pre-order on Amazon and get it from EzyDVD even I've never ordered from there. Good thing I didn't lol.

I saw on Reddit that "The Film Vault" has up for pre-order on Amazon UK some steelbooks of seven 4K titles. I think they look really nice and have pre-ordered Jaws and Shawshank Redemption, which are some of my favourite movies.

The Crow SteelBook is up for Pre-order on JBAU and DVD Land websites; Looks like it's actually happening.

You piqued my interest in The Film Vault Limited Edition 4K Range. I was surprised to learn that these releases are from Warner Bros. Discovery/Universal Pictures.

Looking at the artwork, they are using custom artwork by Matt Ferguson and Florey, of Vice Press

Available from international sellers including Amazon UK and Rarewaves.

The films are Collector's Editions with lots of tat... hence, quite expensive. Including an Acetate Slip Cover, Crystal Display Plaque, Rigid Clamshell Box with magnetic closure, Art Cards etc. The discs are housed in a DigiPak inside the box. Several of these releases have already sold out. I don't think that any of them include SteelBooks. (but I could be wrong). Also, these things are quite large, so a goodly amount of storage space is required.

Films In The Film Vault Collection:

01. Blade Runner (1982) [3000 Units]

02. Goodfellas (1990) [3000 Units]

03. Scarface (1983) [3000 Units]

04. 1917 (2019) [3000 Units]

05. The Shawshank Redemption (1994) [5000 Units]

06. Jaws (1975) [4000 Units]

07. 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) [6000 Units]

08. Apollo 13 (1995) [3500 Units]

My personal view. Although The Film Vault Collection is very nice to look at; the fact that the included discs are the same as the ones in the Standard Editions, means that we are paying big money for the fancy stuff like the very nice Crystal display plaques... it just seems like another unashamed money grab from the studios involved, but, as always, collector's will have the final say.

Just in addition to the above post. There are no SteelBooks included in any of these items. All have sold out on Amazon UK. There should be four more titles available sometime in 2024 (two Universal and two Warner Bros.) as there were four in 2022 and 2023. Unless they get greedy and start to flood the market.

Arrow Video UK have two upcoming 4K titles:

THE LONG GOOD FRIDAY (1980) 4K Ultra HD • Dolby Vision/Dolby Atmos/PCM Mono 1.0 • 1.85:1 • 114 Minutes • May 27th • Pre-order from the Arrow store [£22]

Harold Shand (Bob Hoskins) is a businessman with great ambitions. Spotting the development potential of London's derelict Docklands area years before the Thatcher government, he tries to broker a deal with his American counterpart (Eddie Constantine) that will make them both millions. But who is killing Harold's other associates and blowing up his businesses - and why?

Universally regarded as one of the greatest gangster films ever made, The Long Good Friday rocketed Hoskins to international stardom. He's given sterling support from Helen Mirren (as his upper-crust girlfriend), Paul Freeman and Derek Thompson, and there's even an early appearance from future James Bond Pierce Brosnan.

WITHNAIL & I (1986) 4K Ultra HD • Dolby Vision/DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1/PCM Mono 1.0 • 1.85:1 • 107 Minutes • June 24th • Pre-order from the Arrow store [£30]

Camden Town, the arse-end of the sixties. Two struggling, unemployed actors decide some respite is in order and so depart their miserable flat for a week in the Lake District – one that will involve rain, booze, minimal supplies, a randy bull and an even randier Uncle Monty.

Based on the real-life experiences of former actor turned writer/director Bruce Robinson, Withnail & I has become one of British cinema's most fondly remembered comedies. A cult film in the truest sense that has also become a classic.

Perfectly cast - with career-defining roles for Richard E. Grant, Paul McGann, Richard Griffiths and Ralph Brown - and crammed with irresistibly quotable dialogue, Withnail & I is a sheer delight, even on the umpteenth viewing.

While I was posting the upcoming Arrow Video releases, I remembered that I have a Zavvi exclusive SteelBook (I do wish that Zavvi would ship overseas again) of Withnail & I, which is one of the nicest SteelBooks in my collection. The framed picture and film title are embossed, with a sort of shiny matte finish. I remember enjoying the film, but the 1080p transfer was a bit rough and I haven't re-visited it since my initial viewing several years ago. The SteelBook has two disc slots, Blu-ray and DVD. If/when the Arrow release goes on sale, I'll grab it and replace the DVD with the 4K disc. Here is a pic of the SteelBook, which doesn't show how nice it looks in hand.

Apologies. Most or all of The Film Vault titles also have, or will have a SteelBook release (can't find a 2001: A Space Odyssey, but that doesn't mean that there isn't one). Now these are much more collectible in my opinion. All have the same front cover artwork as the tat Editions. Searching various websites and they all seem to have sold out already.

I asked Zavvi about sending to NZ the other day and apparently they do. They sent me this link

https://www.zavvi.com.au/new-in.list?settingsSaved=Y&shippingcountry=NZ&switchcurrency=NZD&pageNumber=1&facetFilters=categoryLevel2:DVD+and+Blu-Ray

not sure why its a link to new stuff only but as you can see, prices in NZ$. If you search for other items after opening that page i think it shows them as available as well, also in NZ$. Anyway I ordered Andor from them (at hideous expense) and it went through, so will be interesting to see if it turns up after release...

That's great. Let us know if you get your order. I'm sure other collector's on this thread will be interested.

Meanwhile I will do some searching myself 😁

Yep, but Andor isn't due from them till 1st July, although another one from them I ordered is a bit earlier - 3rd June. Not sure if they've got anything else I want that they have in stock at the moment.

Yep, that's the one I've pre-ordered from Amazon UK (Jaws and Shawshank Redemption).

Speaking of Amazon, has anyone else also been getting constant prompts to check that their delivery address is correct (on both the app and the website)? I'm also finding lately that many links I go to on Amazon US and UK are also saying they're unable to send to my location, despite having had dozens of deliveries to that address over the last year.

I haven't used any amazon app. I don't get asked about my address. I think my amazon address is set to a US one and I just change it to NZ when ordering. There's plenty of times they won't send to my location, but that not new. They won't send Andor from Amazon US or Amazon UK despite sending The Mandalorian a few months ago from the US. Never managed to spot a pattern.

Interestingly, I was able to pre-order Andor from Amazon US last month and it's still scheduled to arrive this Wednesday. It won't though as it's actually shipping on Tuesday, to be delivered a week or so later (or at least that's what I'm telling myself *fingers crossed*).

I think the phrase for that is blatant favouritism...although if I get mine from Zavvi (in July, not next week), I do get the plus, to me, of it being a 4K / bluray combo set whereas the US ones seem to be either / or, for more money of course 😀

Mind you, Andor plus Amazon US = Aramex, so good luck with that.
