PURPLE RAIN (1984) has been announced as a Standard Edition 4K UHD release in Australia and it is already on last week's schedule. The UK have gone one better and are also getting a SteelBook Edition release on July 29th. Perhaps it will be announced for Australia soon.

I'm really excited for this. My two boys and I watched the film countless times on DVD. When I sold my DVD Collection it was among them. I have never replaced it with a Blu-ray and this 4K release will be a must buy for me. I remember the amazing soundtrack, which was the main reason for watching it so many times; DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 at it's best. Now with a Dolby Atmos track, I just can't wait to hear it.
I don't really want to shell out for a SteelBook, so, hoping for a Standard Edition Australian release, for around the NZ$30 mark.
Not sure how many SteelBook units will be available, but I don't think it will be around for long.
