Slightly off topic but does anyone have a Sony UBP-X700 player? wondering if its worth using over a PS5

Yup I have that player. I've read alot online of other people having disc freeze and skip issues but I've personally had no issues with mine. It supports Dolby Vision which the PS5 doesn't, so if you have a Dolby Vision TV and 4K's discs with DV I think it's a decent improvement from standard HDR10.

The price difference between AU and NZ is insane..

Completely agree, glad I ordered the Dune 2 Steelbook through JBAU back in March. After the international tax deduction, it only came to $45 NZD. Hopefully these prices go down but it's putting me off buying locally from them when it's so easy to order off the AU site for cheaper.

EzyDVD have a new release date for THE CROW... It's September 4th, a whole two months after the release date of July 3rd which is on the JBAU website.

EzyDVD have only recently added the 4K Ultra HD to their website, so it is more likely to be correct. I expect that the SteelBook will be pushed back as well.

Yeah, I just Pre-ordered The Dune: Part Two Steelie from JBAU. I can't be sure that JBNZ will get it and even if they do, it will be more expensive than the JBAU one. I'm getting the SteelBook for less than it would cost me to buy the Standard Edition from JBNZ. Just hoping for the same artwork as the US release.

I also have one of these. It does freeze/skip but only very occasionally. Wiping the disc and restarting the movie a little way before the point of failure always plays it OK.

Apparently the Sony error correction is not that great so any dirt on the disc may cause a freeze.

I have also read of freezing problems with the Sony UBP-X700. Panasonic appear to be the leaders in 4K Blu-ray players. They have the ridiculously expensive "Reference Class" DP-UB9000GN. Take a step down to the DP-UB820 which is the one that I own and I have to say is a great player with almost everything that the more expensive player has and is less than half the price. I would say that the UB820 is the go to player for both price and quality. Never had one disc skip or freeze. Both of these players support all formats including 4K HDR10+.

Step down even further and you have the DP-UB450GN-K, which also supports Dolby Vision/HDR10+/HDR10/Dolby Atmos and DTS:X (bitstream). This player is more in line with the price of the Sony UBP-X700. Any of these three will do the job nicely.

And, Panasonic's budget 4K Ultra HD player, the DP-UB150GN-K. Supports HDR10+/HDR10 and Dolby Atmos/DTS:X (bitstream) through output 2.

If you are interested, I have added the link to the Panasonic NZ player page, so that you can check out the specs of each one.

Have no idea if its actually cheap or not, but Amazon AU has Sicario 1 and 2 4K for $39.24AU. Ends in about 40 minutes.

The cynic in me says when this price ends it'll actually be cheaper, but just thought I'd mention it.

EDIT - its got the blurays as well.

Sicario is, by all accounts, a reference quality disc... very tempting.

$10 a disc sounds OK to me, but its not my money...and then you probably have to add something else to get the free postage...

Amazon (US) has a few tempting deals at the moment; A Few Good Men, Leon: The Professional, Do The Right Thing, all have discounts of at least 30%.

I need to watch Sicario again. Only saw it once, many moons ago. Noticed it's back on Netflix.

Yeah, I couldn't find anything I wanted to make up the AU$59 for free shipping, so I had to give it a miss.
