floydbloke: So I rung Element14 today just to check if they were any the wiser as to when the Pi's might ship. They're now talking October. Although they are due to get some in July for those who ordered early, but she couldn't tell me whether my order is one of those.

This thing will be an antique before I receive it.

So the 38 days delivery time that was specified when I ordered mine may be a bit of a stretch?
Oh well, good things take time, I guess.

October seems really late, on the raspberry pi website they suggest the first 10,000 are pretty much ready to ship to the UK.

They also suggest the next ones will be going straight into production, surely it doesn't take THAT long to process orders.

due to be released on april 5th, of course you probably wont get your pi for a few more months though....

Can anyone confirm if CE certification is sufficient for NZ, or do we have our own (or perhaps ANZ) RF standards that electronics need to conform to?

Sometimes I use big words I don't always fully understand in an effort to make myself sound more photosynthesis.

More to the point, does it require a ce mark to be sold in New Zealand? Sure, in the EU it may be a requirement, but, for an extra low voltage device, does NZ require a ce mark on it? If not, we could have them now.....

Did a bit more digging on this and it seems that in NZ (and Aus) the equivalent is the C-Tick.

Not sure if this is authoritative but if we go by what it says it would seem the R-Pi needs Level 2. Reading further down, it doesn't look too onerous to meet if the device meets other standards. Don't know what red-tape needs to be cut through to get there though. We can only assume(and hope) that RS and Element14 are covering off the various standard requirements to be able to distribute globally (I think I recall reading on their website somewhere that this is indeed what they are doing.)

FWIW, just read an update, and they are including C-Tick in their certification testing, which is going on right now.

It has now passed all tests, including C-Tick, so once the paperwork is sorted (which seems fairly minimal) RS and Element14 can start production.

I also came across this, seems that one CE is not necessarily like the other:

Is there nothing that the Chinese wont rip off?

I can understand why this practice may have been done. It potentially gets products that may not have gone through the proper process in to use under a mistaken identity.

I personally think that the CE mark is a waste of time and can be confusing. I trust something that has the C-Tick far more as it carries more relevance here.

Roll on the Pi's :)

dolsen: Received an update on my one from element14.
Estimated Delivery W/C 12/03/2012.

This was for one that was ordered quite late due to wasting my time trying to use my old account (had to create a new account).

Given that they have only just started deliveries in the UK a few days ago I'm assuming that you didn't quite get yours on 12/3, but have you had any updates with a new ETA or even a confirmed delivery date? (Here's hoping they aren't using Amercian date format.)

Still the only thing I have is a confirmation email they sent straight after I ordered, not a peep from them since. Made none the wiser by checking my order status on their website, just says back-order. At least it's still in the system.
