Blanch:

I've got mine connected to a Ugreen 3 Port USB 3.0 RJ45 10/100/1000 Mbps HUB for ethernet.

I've got one of these installed now.  The MiBox is using it in preference to WiFi.

Seems to have made Netflix (SD) more reliable but TED has become pretty flaky.

I'm wondering if there are settings I need to change?

I just didn't give it a wifi password, Netflix at 1080 is reliable

Does anyone have issues with reconnecting the remote on their mibox?

I've got one setup in the garage, and I turn off the main switch when I leave. Sometimes when it comes back up I need to do the arrow / circle combo to reconnect the remote, but this also fails at time - even though it says success.

I have had the remote lose its connection many times even when using it. Sometimes comes right sometimes I have had to powercycle the box and take the batteries out and put them back to get it working again.

I've never had to re-pair the remote, but have had to power cycle the box to get it to work.  Will see if that latest update has sorted the issue (didn't face the problem over the long weekend).

Mine just did this for the first time today.  For a few minutes some but not all of the remote buttons would work, then nothing.  Could be flat batteries so I'll try that first.

Until today it has been rock-solid, except for issues with TED which don't occur with any other app (won't play some videos, sometimes plays wrong video, picture and audio out of sync).

So the Ali Express links in this thread now say 'stock all gone' or something to that effect.

But doing a search on AE I was surprised at the number of different China base comanies offering these for sale eg here is one I picked as it has Xiaomi in the company name of the supplier:

https://www.aliexpress.com/...

How do you know these are the real deal? eg do they actually contain the CPU and GPU that match the genuine Xiaomi MiBox?

So I emailed the genuine Xiaomi customer support centre in Hong Kong and they said "AE is probably not the authorised re-seller".

I noticed that if I go to the genuine MiBox website (http://www.mi.com/en/mibox/) they have a product authentication url/page here: http://www.mi.com/verify/#secur_en

Has anyone who has bought a box from AE tried to verify the product through this MiBox verification process and did it 'pass'?

Thanks

I bought it through aliexpress, but haven't tried the authentication.  i think the importance is to look for model numbers as well. The one you want is MDZ-16-AB.

Also, there's a small OTA.  Haven't noticed any changes.  And finally.... there's a beta thats available if anyone wants to try nougat. Seems there's a lot of fixes and it has made the unit heaps more responsive, but haven't ironed out the major one for me (refresh rate switching).

Link to Kodi forum post, which also has guide + download link to the file to flash via recovery.

I am having problems streaming Lightbox from phone to MiBox 4K.

The casting initiates and the episode footer loads but the video never commences playback.

This follows me un-installing a few apps and changing some settings embarassed

Does anyone know what permissions/apps/utilities have to be turned on to allow casting of Lightbox to Google TV?

Exact same issue.

Did you ever get LB working via casting?

I purchased a mibox from Walmart when I was over in the states, and I don't have an authentication label on mine at all.

Good to know because I just had one land from LightintheBox (China) for NZ$89 landed and it has no authentication label either.

I have a stockpile of authentic boxes from Wallmart in USA. Happy to part way with them for a very small profit.

These are authentic unopened USA versions of the Xiaomi Mi Boxes with the $76USD Free offers inside and will pass the verification process that you are talking about.

To be honest I gave up trying.  I got a new phone and I haven't even bothered registering it with Lghtbox yet.

But I can cast everything I've tried that isn't Lightbox.

For the sake of testing I've cast various apps from my phone to the MiBox with no issues and I'm able to cast from chrome on the laptop and mirror my phone screen.
