Thanks for the awesome work Movieman.

My “The Crow Steelbook” arrived from JB today and although I havent played it, the cover looks amazing - very 3Dish.

You movie buffs may already know this, Christopher Nolan’s Inception and Interstellar movies are getting the 4K Steelbook treatment on Sept 16th 2024 (according to imusic.co preorders).
Hope these are available locally!

Well, the mystery surrounding The Crow Standard Edition release date has now sorted itself out and both JBNZ and JBAU are allowing you to "add to cart". Still no final artwork available for it on both sides of the Tasman.

Specs should be the same as for the SteelBook Edition, but without the Blu-ray disc.

The JBAU release has been wihdrawn from sale and now has a new release date of September 4th. The JBNZ listing is still showing "add to cart", but I expect that it has been auto generated and will also be withdrawn until September 4th.

The Crow Standard Edition has now been withdrawn from the JBNZ website.

ROCKY: Ultimate Knockout Collection (6-Films) (1976 - 2006)

Release Date Australia: July 31st • Release Date NZ: August 14th

Rocky:

The 1976 Oscar winner for Best Picture, John G Avildsen's Rocky is the story of a down-and-out club fighter who gets his million-to-one shot at a world championship title. In the title role, Sylvester Stallone (who also penned the screenplay) draws a carefully etched portrait of a loser who, in Brando-esque fashion, "coulda been a contender". Rocky then becomes one thanks to a publicity stunt engineered by current champ Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers), while finding love courtesy of timid wallflower Adrian (Talia Shire) along the way. Burgess Meredith revives the spirit of 1940's genre pictures through his scenery-chewing performance as Rocky's trainer. An enormously entertaining film, Rocky is irresistible in its depiction of an underachiever who has the courage to start all over again--a description that could have been applied to Stallone's own life at the time.

Rocky 2:

The Italian Stallion returns for a rematch with Apollo Creed, hoping, finally, to capture the heavyweight title. This time, even his girlfriend, Adrian, gives Rocky her blessing. Sylvester Stallone wrote and directed this exciting follow-up, with Burgess Meredith, Talia Shire, Carl Weathers, and Burt Young all reprising their roles from the first film.

Rocky 3:

Rocky's lifestyle of wealth and idleness is suddenly shaken when a powerful fighter challenges him to a fight for the championship. After being beaten, the previously over-confident Rocky resumes his training in preparation for a re-match.

Rocky 4: (Theatrical Version, Ultimate Director's Cut)

A World Heavyweight Boxing contest is to be staged between the champ, Rocky Balboa and the Soviet amateur champion, Ivan Drago. Both men know that this is more than just a tough contest of strength and skill.

Rocky 5:

Times are hard for Rocky Balboa. A lifetime of taking punches has terminated his boxing career and a crooked accountant has left him in financial difficulties. The Balboa family moves back to its roots in a downtown neighbourhood where an aspiring boxer turns to the champ for training.

Rocky Balboa: (Theatrical Version, The Director's Cut)

The sixth installment of the Rocky series picks up the story of the Italian Stallion 16 years after the morose Rocky V. And sure, at his advanced age, Sylvester Stallone now looks like one of those sides of beef his character used to pound on. No matter. Somehow you buy the premise after all these years, even if it takes forever for Rocky Balboa to stop wallowing in self-pity (Adrian is dead, his old haunts are demolished) and get down to the business of drinking raw eggs and running up steps. The business at hand is an unlikely exhibition fight with champion Mason Dixon (Antonio Tarver), which the near-sexagenarian Mr. Balboa has no business accepting. Of course, just as sure as the horns of Bill Conti's theme music are even now trumpeting through your head, the ol' Rock might have a punch or two left in him. Stallone wrote and directed, and there isn't much to say except that the movie steps in its pre-determined paces with a canny sense of what has come before (it's practically an homage to all the previous Rocky pictures, complete with fleeting flashbacks). Burt Young is around again, and Geraldine Hughes makes an appealing, rather chaste female companion for Rocky.

Has anyone got the A24 Talking Heads Stop Making Sense 4K Deluxe Edition? Is it any good?

With the current NZ pesso rates, it comes to around $165 delivered!

There is a CD/Bluray coming but not 4K :(

I'm hoping for a wider release of Stop Making Sense. The shipping from A24 is ridiculous.

Lionsgate's fun, mindless carnage action B movie; Boy Kills World (2024) is surprisingly getting a 4K Ultra HD release in The US. I don't know if Lionsgate/Roadshow have any plans to release it over here, but its good to see that studios are still prepared to release niche films like this in 4K. The downer here is that the 4K disc will NOT include HDR, it's an SDR release.

Available Amazon US with free shipping if you spend NZ$80 in one purchase.

Bill Skarsgård stars as "Boy" who vows revenge after his family is murdered by Hilda Van Der Koy (Famke Janssen), the deranged matriarch of a corrupt post-apocalyptic dynasty that left the boy orphaned, deaf and voiceless. Driven by his inner voice, one which he co-opted from his favorite childhood video game, Boy trains with a mysterious shaman (Yayan Ruhian) to become an instrument of death and is set loose on the eve of the annual culling of dissidents. Bedlam ensues as Boy commits bloody martial arts mayhem, inciting a wrath of carnage and blood-letting. As he tries to get his bearings in this delirious realm, Boy soon falls in with a desperate resistance group, all the while bickering with the apparent ghost of his rebellious little sister.

Lionsgate Films • 4K Ultra HD & Blu-ray • 4K SDR • Dolby Atmos/Dolby True HD 7.1/Dolby Digital 2.0 • 2.39:1 • 111 Minutes • July 24th

That's an incredible cast! How have I never heard of this film!?

On another note, have you seen any info regarding the Boy and the Heron Movieman? It looks like our American friends are getting close to a release.
Cheers
