Apparently some of last years 4K release of Rocky 1-4 had audio problems and Roadshow replaced faulty discs to collector's who applied for replacements.
Reports say that this years Rocky: Ultimate Knockout Collection has no such problems, so you can buy with confidence 😀
Ugh I bought that box set but haven't gotten round to watching it. I'll look into the replacement discs .
Found this on Reddit. They are discussing the US releases, but the Australian release is the same.
Now… a little background: As many of you already know, ALL FOUR 4K DISCS in the Rocky: The Knockout Collection were found to have errors that QC simply missed (the Blu-ray bonus disc was fine). Specifically…
Rocky 4K had incorrect mono audio that was a fold-down of the 5.1 mix rather than the Original Theatrical mono it should have been. (You can tell because there should be a brief piano cue of the Rocky Theme in the original mono mix—right after the final bell at the end of the climactic fight, as the lines “Ain’t gonna be no rematch” and “Don’t want one” are spoken—that’s not heard in the 5.1 mix.)
Rocky II 4K had its 5.1 mix pitched 2-4% too low for the entire film.
Rocky III 4K had all of its foreign language tracks pitched 2-4% too low for the entire film.
And Rocky IV 4K had one shot early in the Theatrical Cut (at 10:17 into the film, as Rocky is washing his car) that briefly shifted to full 1.78 instead of the 1.85 the rest of the film is presented in.
Also, as many of you know, this was extremely frustrating for fans of these films and anyone who’d purchased this 4K set. We (and many others) notified the studio of the errors, but Warner simply wouldn’t confirm that anything was wrong.
They simply didn’t respond to questions about it.
But now we know that they’ve fixed all four of these 4K discs.
I know that because I did indeed just get my replacement discs this morning. And they are indeed all fixed!
