I've just brought one of these, and was wondering if it was safe to do software upgrades if required. I'm running unblock.us - but want to be sure I dont lose funtionality if I upgrade.

Thanks in advance for any info.

Regards

Mark.

Perfectly safe to do software upgrades. In fact they auto update the firmware and apps automatically in the background. You cannot really turn a Roku 3 off unless you pull the power cable from the back of it. I leave mine all the time and my firmware and apps get updated automatically when I am not using it since my device is connected to the network 24/7.

Do whatever you want to do man.
