I didn't know which forum to post this in so it is off topic..... Anyway when my VDSL2 is installed on Monday i will be planing on downloading lots of TV shows and Movies with my connection.

I was wondering what is the best format to burn movies and tv show onto DVD ? also can you recomend a better video downloader for chrome than  Video Downloader professional 1.97.33
Download videos from web sites or just collect them in your video list without downloading

Currently using video downloader is there a better extension than this one ?

To be honest with data limits going up and prices down I don't see the point of downloading, I stream a lot now and hardly watch TV at all.

It always surprises me how people can so openly declare to everyone how they are doing something illegal.

Nothing illegal about me downloading old tapes of WCW which is a non existent wrestling promotion that shut down in  2001 tnt was the broadcasting company which is now spike tv and there are no objections by spike tv against wrestling fans downloading their old house taping of wcw which is a massive part of wrestling history and a large part of it has been lost forever. Also last time i checked downloading movies from solarmovie.so is not illegal if it where illegal they wouldn't still be around after 4 years. I have researched this as well and the United States is 100 percent aok with sollarmovie as is europe asia africa and australasia.

Next thing i know someone is gonna say downloading pc games from Steam or Electronic Arts own origin client is illegal too..... lol faceplam. Not trying to take a stab at you frietasm you're cool i grown to like you :D but you of all people making asumptions i thought you where more clever than to make assumptions right off the bat with out doing a tiny bit of ummm homework or nicely asking where my wrestling videos and movies are coming from.

I have an account a paid one which allows me to watch online or download movies that are from the site i pay the fee too and last time i check it wasn't illegal to download videos from YouTube with the video downloaders provided through google chromes extension add ons shop.... Lol if it where illegal i don't think a million maybe billion dollar corporation would be dumb enough to provide chrome users with youtube video downloader add ons. Also i would laugh if i did get taken to court for downloading a video from my youtube channel the one of my cat lol again i researched the legality of downloading from downloading from youtube lol next someone is gonna tell me it is illegal to buy a movie through netflix and download onto their computer then someone will say its illegal to download that movie from zune video on a ps3 even though it was purchased by the ps3 user using a legit service provided by sony  : )

Why bother burning to DVD?
Anything I download I just store on a Data Hard Drive and play to TV with my media player.
Takes up less room that a lot of DVDs. A 2Tb USB HDD will store a lot of downloads.
When occasionally I do burn to a DVD I use VideoReDo, DVDFab for DVD movie format or Nero for Data format.

It is against YouTube's TOS.

A significant percentage of the content solarmovie links to is in breach of a variety of copyrights. There's a reason it runs from a Somalian TLD.

DVD's still take up far more room and in my experience aren't any more reliable than hard drives, but perhaps I've just been lucky. After all I've never had a hard drive fail. Compare that to failed burns, scratches, proper cd/dvd pens bleeding words to the point of almost being incomprehensible, my own terrible hand writing; not to mention the differences in searching and indexing.

As for purchasing something from netflix: as I see it different people own different distribution rights in different countries, if you circumvent geoblocking in order to purchase something your still infringing on the copyright of the local copyright holder. I doubt anyone will ever be pinged for it, but I don't actually see how it's legal.
Not too long ago HBO released the first episode of banshee on youtube for free, sky then complained that it should have been geoblocked because they own the rights to distribution here. Link here.

I just read the who tos for youtube in no where does it say i am not allowed to use YouTube downloader provider by google to download videos from youtube which is owned by google google owns youtube.... So according to you i will be breaching youtubes terms of service if i where to download my own video of my cat from my channel with a program provided by google called youtube downloader which is provided by google lol

According to you google the owner of YouTube is providing a browser extension called YouTube downloader so it can trick ppl into breaching the terms of service on googles website Youtube.com ? The links provided by Youtube downloader are generated underneath the videos on youtube again provided by google through chrome, google owns YouTube........ i will now quote you You shall not download any Content unless you see a “download” or similar link displayed by YouTube on the Service for that Content. You shall not copy, reproduce, make available online or electronically transmit, publish, adapt, distribute, transmit, broadcast, display, sell, license, or otherwise exploit any Content for any other purposes without the prior written consent of YouTube or the respective licensors of the Content

As far as i know it is not illegal to view movies through links on solarmovie.so , maybe it is to download the movies so you're right there...... But solarmovie.so has already been through the court system inn the usa and eroupe and has deemed there service not illegal /anyway i am not gonna further continue a discussion of whether downloading a movie is legal or not because this thread could go through 100 pages a 1000 pages of ppl going back and forth arguing

You did get me on solarmovie.so but i got you on youtube downloader. You put the nail in your own coffin when you provided me the magic words from youtube i quote again..... You shall not download any Content unless you see a “download” or similar link displayed by YouTube on the Service for that Content. You shall not copy, reproduce, make available online or electronically transmit, publish, adapt, distribute, transmit, broadcast, display, sell, license, or otherwise exploit any Content for any other purposes without the prior written consent of YouTube or the respective licensors of the Content

Why would downloading be different to the physical product? In NZ it is not illegal to parallel import genuine product that's not region coded for NZ or modify players to play such product. The Warehouse sell a lot of Region 2 DVD.

It's illegal in the USA, when you break netflix TOS, and it's illegal here, when you violate the local rights holders copyright. In this instance your also smuggling product that is barred for export from the origin country, unlike DVDs that may have been approved for export. Since it's illegitimate I don't see how it can be 'genuine product'. if it's not genuine product, then it's illegal.

burning DVDs UGH!. if you must use DVDs just store them as files on the DVD, im sure ur xbox360 can play media files. No one burns video to DVD anymore bc it's such a PIA and the quality is way lower than just copy the files onto the DVD and using a media player.
