Ive always been a sony guy, but I hate my Sony software, its the pre android model on my 1080p.

We are getting fibre soon and I want UHD and have an Xbox.

At first I was like everyone, 4k is over rated, viewing distances etc. But Ive been watching more 4k each time I go to the photography store and it is noticeable, and definitely when you talking gaming.

Can you get a 4k TV for sub $1k? Thats what I paid for my 55" Bravia 3 years ago, $700, was a bargain at the time ROFL.

I'm in the same position and I regret I did not purchase TV during Christmas. We purchased whiteware on boxing day, and saw people buying TVs like hot pies, must be a good deal at the time.

So best is to wait for Easter now or monitor local discounts

I'm 10 months in with my $999 Veon 65" 4k non smart TV and I have zero regrets, it does everything it needs to do, 4k via Netflix looks great, gaming on PS4 Pro is great, I'm sure i could spend $3k on a better TV but it wouldn't be 3x as good, i bet it wouldn't be 5% better

Easter is April right? Sorry not religious and the fact that Xmas and Easter are both Pagan dates that another religion piggy backed off then retail used through that religion I just go all blah about religious holidays.

I hear ya bro, did the Mrs consider the TV or was whiteware always the only consideration? My mrs isnt too bad, but Im about to get Fibre net so plan to sell the Bravia and just replace it without her knowing. TCL seems to get a good name in the states.

Im a Sony guy

But I think I might go for this or the $1200 one

Impressive the TCLs have a Harmon Kardon sound bar already installed, but often, like notebooks, it could be BLAH, so Ill keep my Sony soundbar and Sub. Cant do surround in this odd living room, but Id love to get back to some high end sound gear.

I bought a Sony KD55X8500E from Harvey for $1580 during the Waitangi promo.

But not the price that the op is looking for, but I am very pleased with this.

I saw those and I just wondered do they really look better than a quality 1080P screen so thats interesting to hear positive feedback.

I have to take into consideration how far back our couch is as it cant go further back, in relation to 4k being view able (the 4k only noticeable at correct distance thing)

Thanks Mike, my apologies and no offense meant to those that do follow the religious holidays.

Yes HDR is important, one of the big things about Xbox X is HDR.

$500 off, where from?

not even that cheap in the states.

never mind, its only $500. more importantly if its better than the sony its irrelevant as neither are $500 off.

You paid $900 for the EISA BEST BUY TV 2017-2018 (European Imaging and Sound Association)

I have to know where you bought this from so I can confirm with them as that sounds too unbelievable, I might be able to haggle $200 off at least.

Sony won, but that TV is $7k

For once NZ gets the best for cheap prices.

I will have to wait until easter to see if it pops up on sale again. Missed out big time.
