This is probably going to sound like a dumb question but we had sky hdmi installed the other day and i had two programmes set to recorded. We were watching another channel and the first programe started to record but when the second one went to start to record 1/2hr later it switched to that on the tv and when we went to switch back to what we were wathing it said it couldn't because two programmes were recording. I was under the impression you could record 2 programmes at the same time and watch another.
Am i missing something here.

At present Sky HDi's only have 2 tuners. This means you can only watch one channel while recording another one or record two and playback an existing file. A firmware upgrade to ebable 4 tuners (3 for reocrding/live tv and the 4th for PPV) will be available later this year.

There have been quite a few people post on here with the same issue, when Sky launched the product they said this and have made it quite clear however the manual mentions recording 2 channels while watching a 3rd and people obviously aren't reading (or not receiving) the addendum to the manual that Sky have. You can view it here

me too, problem solved.  Out of necessity rather than wanting to by the sounds of it.  Cost them too much in false advertising.  It's not true that sky could have dropped the ball on this one, eh!!!

Related question: the installer today just plugged in a single cable from the satellite. What do the other three coax inputs do?  Will have problems recording multiple programs with just one input?

The box has an internal multi switch. The other connections are not used untill sky start using other satellites.

Other coax inputs allow access to other satellites and/or polarities. Currently the decoders tuners can only see Optus D1/Horizontal.

Spark Max Fibre using Mikrotik CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+, CRS125-24G-1S, Unifi UAP, U6-Pro, UAP-AC-M-Pro, Apple TV 4K (2022), Apple TV 4K (2017), iPad Air 1st gen, iPad Air 4th gen, iPhone 13, SkyNZ3151 (the white box). If it doesn't move then it's data cabled.

Cool thanks. I did notice when I check signal strength that all four tuners are showing good strength.
Although tuner three is "unlocked" with bad quality.  Should I be worried?

Ok that's kinda strange. I was having issues with recording sky while watching another channel, so I called them. The CSR made some changes, then said "oh ok recording wasn't enabled for your box in our system - it's all fixed  now".
I reset the box, and all four tuners are showing full strength and full quality, and I can record all fine.

So strange.  How can they change the tuner performance from their end?
