Looking for a 55" - 65" for around $3000. Just need 4K and good picture. Source is Netflix and Disney+ and SmartVU Freeview box. I have an amp and sub so sound not important.

I am replacing the legendary Panisonic 50" Plasma. Situated in a corner room with windows on both side but we mostly watch at night anyway.

My thought is consider using the search button and review one of the 50+ identical threads in geekzone on this topic, or one of the many many respected review sites on the wider internet.

You're a week late. All the good TV's have mostly all gone back up in price now particularly all the OLED deals.

Samsung Q60 isn’t great according to the review sites
The Q80 is good

Not sure on the Panasonic but look at the Sony x950g as well although it’s not OLED

Hmm - You are a week late! The awesome deals on the high-end TV's have all ended.

Samsung were doing some impressive deals via Noel Leeming. I have the Q80R and the Q90R - They are the latest 4K Samsung OLED TV's. Outstanding with all of the features you would ever want including the latest versions of the Netflix and Disney apps which are super responsive and easy to navigate.

Another big advantage of the Samsung QLED's is Ambient Mode which allows you to have a background etc. when the TV is off. We have a Samsung Frame in our lounge and that similarily allows you to have art.

They are expensive now though without the sales. Black Friday - Noel Leeming/Harvey Norman was doing ~ 400$ vouchers. Boxing Day - they were doing ~ $500 discounts.

There isn't an answer to that question. It's a bit like asking how long a piece of string is. If you're asking that you really do need to be doing some reading on the different technologies and what makes them better and worse.

I would personally only buy an OLED but that doesn't mean they're better. Lots of people do like the brighter screens of the QLED and don't notice the terrible blacks.

What I will say is that you will struggle to watch a LED/QLED after having had a plasma.

With all the sales over now it's slim pickings to find a deal. The $2399 55" OLED's and $3399 65" OLED's (somebody correct me but I think LG B9 and Panasonic where down to that) probably won't get that cheap again until the April clearance sales.

One that was on offer was the Pani GX850 for 2192. Bigger at 65"

They didnt have a TH-55GZ1000U on display unfortunately.

The very basics are:

QLED for bright rooms or gaming.

OLED for the best black levels if you have a light controlled room.

LED can actually be pretty cool if you get a super high-spec back-lit version with multiple, multiple zones of dimming.

Coming from a Plasma, an OLED would be my pick and what would replace my Pana VT60 if I had to change TV's today.

I bought a Panasonic OLED TV in the Black Friday sales. Luckily I had a 30 day price promise, so I got $602 back when the TV was at a better price on Boxing Day.

The 55" Panasonic OLED was under $3000 on Boxing Day. Around $2600 IIRC. PQ is superb, but you do need a darkened room to get the best out of it. I also recommend the LG C9 55" OLED, which was also less than $3000 on Boxing Day.

If you are going to watch in a room with lots of windows, I would recommend the Samsung QLED. The Q90 if you can afford it
