Building a house at the moment.  Getting 2x new tv's to go with. Yay!

Looking at the following tvs, both Pansonic plasmas:

50" - TH-50PY800

and

42" - TH-42PY800

Just want to know if anyone has got any good deals any of these two tv's recently.

Thanks

If you're looking at those, and in UHF region, I'd suggest looking at 850 models, they're pretty much the same, but include Freeview|HD

Yeah it did think about those but as a general rule they are an extra $500.  Also see here

New model release is imminent, so should be some good run out deals.
Unless you have MySkyHDi or are only going to use the TVs for blu-ray or other HD sources, you will be sorely disappointed by the analogue performance (particularly on the 50). A freeview STB is roughly $300, so inbuilt is only $200 more, but the Freeview PVR deal would solve that.

I was talking to Panasonic yesterday and they said mid to late July. I brought my 50PY800 last July for $3650 cash ( with a HT system by redemption plus $600 worth of freebies ) and can get the same deal now ( minus redemption ) and am in the market for another one the same, so when the new models are released these will be two models old and there are still a few around. I am betting, by August I will pay around $3000 cash for one.

As I understand it retailers should have details over the next couple of weeks.  The new range has new model designations (X,V,G). Not sure when the first shipment is landing, but that should mean retailers will be running current/previous model stock numbers down.

HN are having a big sale this weekend, I checked out the price of a TH-42PY800 over the phone - $2298...not bad, just have to convince the financial controller that we need to upgrade :-)

Also have a look at the Panasonic UK site (http://www.panasonic.co.uk), their range gives a great indicator as to what we can expect here in NZ.

Cheers

I just checked the Harvey Norman website...no catalogue on there for the sale. Has the sale been advertised in newspapers?

website is hopeless on HN. need to go in person. and behave like uncle scrooge. you'll be surprised how much discount they're willing to give. even on already so called discounted products. i've banned myself from HN window shopping coz i'm a sucker for good discounts.

I see DSE have the 50" for less than $3000 at the moment.

Anyone got a firmer date of when the new models due?

And I thought I could get one for that this August, do you do it now or hope there will be a few still around then and even cheaper maybe? Hmmmm.
